Solar Dancing Chicks I know these are supposed to be just for Easter, but I am keeping them out until they quick working. I doupt that will be long, but what do you expect for $1(each). Matt
I have had one of these going in my office for several months now. It was a gift from CSB when she visited me last fall! It may be a long time until they quit working! :D

He never has enough birds in the yard, house, green house, and is always trying to get me to buy new ones, including stuffed chickens, and chicks....

Where did you find it???

I know it will drive me loopy, but I know how much he would like it.. Now if only the older one was easier to keep happy...

I discovered these little cuties on our trip last summer at my mom's house.
She had hers for several months by then and is now more that a year
old and it still works.........amazing what a dollars worth of cuteness
can do

Dollar Tree. All stores were supposed to put them out today. Hopefully you have one close. I would call and see if they still have them, because they go FAST. For easter they have the chick and bunnies.

Most of these girls are NEW layers - I already cooked most of the ones that quit laying on us towards the end of fall!! We have special feed (read: uber expensive) because of my daughter's severe allergy (must be soy-free feed) and so we have a rule that if they don't lay (molting aside) they don't stay!! I will say though...I think you might be my HERO for the day!!
Good Afternoon, I am still new on here. I've been trying to get caught up on things. The last month are so has been crazy. I've got new babies everywhere inside and out.Hopefully I will have time to post some pics soon. But I need some advice its about gardening.....I've been wanting to get a tiller but I want it to be one I can use when my hubby is not home and want work me to death. I've looked online at different ones. I don't want to spend alot of money, which I don't have anyway. I've looked at the electric ones does anyone have any thoughts on them. My hubby says he's not for sure about that, they may not do good, not enough weigh.

Hope everyone has a great afternoon. Can't wait till it warms up and to get started on some new chicken pens.

We bought an electric one (because it was "light weight" enough for this pregnant mama to use in the garden by herself) about 2 years ago. Spent oh roughly $200 on it (can't remember sadly but I know we set a limit and so I know it wasn't over $200!!) Anyway, we tilled our garden area and I am not sure if our soil was too compact, the area was too large, or if it just was a "wuss" of a machine, but it literally DIED after using it twice. I will say we were tilling a rather LARGE area for the first time and were encountering all sorts of rocks along the way (our garden is roughly 60' x 60'). This was a gem of a machine - aside from it dying on us, the only "drawback" we found was it was LOUD (what tiller isn't) and the vibrations did give you sore hands after a while. If you were going a small area, I think it could work just fine. JMHO though!! Good luck!!

Ladies and Gentleman & Poultry people of all ages...I feel like I have FINALLY arrived (again). May I introduce you to (modeled by my wonderful DH who found this beauty IN the nesting box):

I feel like we need to start celebrating. I don't know WHO laid it, but I am NOT complaining. It's about time these girls start earning their keep!!

ETA: Forgot to mention...DH took me to TSC and not only did I walk out WITHOUT any chicks...I was able to walk by the HUGE bins and only shed a few tears!! Saw one bin with 3 dead/dying chicks and bloody pooh all over the place. I did NOT let DD see in that bin....nor did I let her talk me into taking ANY of the ducklings home with me - had she actually ASKED, I might have lost all reserve because they were so stinking CUTE!! (Especially the sad looking one with next to no feathers on it's body!!)

Still...went to TSC and left chick & duckling LESS...next year...maybe not!

I would not waste money on an electric tiller... sometimes you can find a pretty cheap gas powered tiller if you check around. All tillers are loud and will give a work out...

unless you get a high-dollar, self propelled tiller.

Wooohooo RuthAnn! Congratulations on the hen fruit!

You'd be surprised how long they may last. Ours from last year lasted til Oct and then I cracked it open and replaced the battery. it still works but was pulled in during the winds. Yes, they can fly with wind help..... I chased one....
