But I do have bantam Cochin. I have Mille Fleur hens and a blue frizzle rooster. I am waiting on some more MF to hatch to get a rooster.

I can just imagine the cuteness of walking a goat on a leash..........
but really is a good idea for you NH........give
it a try

Goat renting was a big thing in Wyoming (moved from there a little over a year ago). They were amazingly effective on the weeds. Never thought of renting one as a trial run though. Hmm, daughter wants goats, maybe that's the way to go.....

Yes, I saw some of this in NM, too.....people would rent a herd of goats to clear land to build on. Usually in mountainous areas where there weren't good roads to get machinery in. In NC we are so spoiled, lol

Hey thanks! I will do that, there are a few local places and a TSC nearby.
How much work and money would it be to rent the goat for brush clearing? We have some really brushy woods that need help....just haven't a clue how much work a goat is....

Goats are great! They eat just about everything. They have been known to chew through or otherwise break the rope/leash and climb on top of a newly painted blue metal flake classic camaro when I wasn't you aren't looking.

Most goats are better trained than that....mine was young which made for a wonderful barbecue that night.

Don't let that discourage you, they are wonderful creatures; you just need to understand and be aware of their behaviour. Kinda like channeling the energy of a five year old in the correct direction....and making sure they don't have access to anything you don't want eaten or climbed on. What happened to me was my own fault, not the goat. I feel guilty all these years later for eating him.

WHAT !!!!! You have an AWESOME set up !!!!

I DO recall having to keep an eye on YOU and my Cadbury the last time you popped over for a visit....un huh...accusing me of hiding things in the diaper bag...that's what I have KIDS for - I mean what??

ALSO....HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!
NH, no real timeline. She is for sale but I haven't gotten any bites yet. If you aren't interested I'll take her to Beth for brush clearing. :)
DH is interested in the idea, only we don't have the fencing situation set up yet and that makes him a little "uneasy." We wouldn't want her venturing into the neighbor's fields and depleting their crops!! We don't have a truck to buy the fencing materials (yet) and NEED a van (before/by July) so we're still trying to figure things out. Keep me posted and I'll keep you posted on what he decides (I was hoping his family would visit in April rather than July and we could "make" his father help put up the fencing!! LOL) re: fencing and such. His plans are NOT cheap, so we just have to figure out the best plan of attack...part of the hesitation is he's still hoping/trying to buy the land behind us and doesn't want to put a fence up until we know for sure yay or nay on the land back there.

What kind.of fencing has to be used to keep in a goat? Especially if its temporary? Bc I would be eating goat if it ate my rose bushes.....
