Good afternoon everybody! Just getting caught up...We participated in the easter hatch along much to the delight of my 5 year old grandson

. I would have been happier with a better hatch rate though. We ended up with 6 cream legbars out of 12 shipped eggs (3 girls and 3 boys) and 2 olive eggers (from our own flock). But from the blue laced red wyandotte shipped eggs not a single one hatched

. Soooo disappointed...they are still in the incubator...today is day 24...just in case but it doesn't look good. Does anyone know where I can get some blrw hatching eggs that are more local than Indiana?? We want to try again...

I got mine from a fellow out of Florida off Ebay.

So we went to the big Chicken Show at the DC Fair on Saturday - what fun! There were lots of vendors outside selling chicken boxes, cages, chicks, ducks and all sorts of things. I had no idea it would be that large. SO many birds to look at. My hope was that I would get to see a tolbunt polish and make contact with someone local who bred the.

My husband and both my boys went along and really enjoyed it. Hubby met up with a fellow Canadian lady and they chatted a while as me and the boys looked at birds and took pictures. Turns out, the lady hubby was talking to was the one person who had Tolbunt Polish there!!!! I was elated. To top it all off, her frizzled Tolbunt Polish hen laid an egg and she let me have it!!!! I am so very excited. She said it was definitely fertile. I will candle it Thursday and see what we have.

Everyone was very nice and I got a few other eggs too - a dark cornish, a spanish, a little call duck and then my son found a mystery egg outside on the ground. I told him we'd throw it in the incubator and see what we got.

Hubby let me get a couple polish chicks that a guy was selling and I got my son a Barred Rock chick - his favorite.

Sorry I missed you, Matt! I looked around but wasn't sure who you were since there were so many people there.... Did you happen to see that gigantic rooster on the back row?? It was a japanese fighting breed, I think - something like a shamy or shamu rooster. Anyway, it was 36" tall and very odd looking. The owner said he wouldn't take less than $1500 for him as they are very rare here in the US.

We had a really great time and I am SO happy we went!!

I know a lady who might have some. She is right here in Thomasville, NC and has very nice birds. If you are able to drive to her, let me know (I don't know if she ships)....I will be glad to get in touch with her for you and see if she has some. Where are you located?.

Who and where did you order your cream legbar eggs from? Were they a reputable breeder?
