You won't discourage her! My daughter was precocious with wanting to read, too. And there's no such thing as "too early" if the child wants to. My mother still has her notebooks from her work with her very strict father. She was writing in cursive...shaky, but cursive...and doing long division at five. But when she got old enough to go to school, she was bored. That's one reason so many don't teach kids who want to learn. They're afraid they'll get bored later. Since you're going to homeschool right along, then let her start slowly while her interest is there! Doesn't have to be formal. You can do it while reading to her. Letter sounds. Then start putting them together to sound out words. She's going to be thrilled to be able to read "Cat in the Hat" for herself soon!

I have gotten a couple different types of eggs from him with very good results. He is out of Florida.

Wow ive missed a lot as ive not been on in a bit hope everyone is great things here have been a bit shakey. All but two of my chickens were killed by the neighbors dog... he paid me ten dollars per chicken that died so he made things right and i was able to get some more birds... but now I cant let them freerange with the fear of the neighbors dog.

About a month ago I started Fostering a beautiful Saint Bernard who has heart worms. Most of her medication was sponsered by a rescue so all i really have had to buy is her food and of course give her the medication. Apparently Im her alpha becouse she took her meds fine for me but would not take them from anyone else... she has complete trustr in me lol. Only problem is the chickens make he excited and she likes to try and chase them.... as does my cat... I dont think she would ever hurt them on perpose but I have to monitor the situation.

I can't stand spiders...I'll leave common house spiders alone, but very few other spiders survive me seeing them

Got a question. My Jap. Bantam started sounding a little nasaly, breathing a little hard also. I took her out which was near roosting time and fix her own coop up in our building and tried to give her some Tylan that you mix in the water. I mixed a half of teaspoon in a gallon of water. She didn't drink much of it because it was bed time so I left her in there all day yesterday. She seemed better yesterday morning, no more noises and back to her old self. We put her back in the coop with the others late yesterday so she could keep her pecking order, she is the top one and sure of enough the others act like they never seen her before, but she set them straight. My question is, she is suppose to take the Tylan for 5 days and is it ok for the rest of the flock in her pen to drink it to? They probably been exposed to it being it was late in the day when I noticed this, and how about egg withdrawal and for how long.

I just had to come on and share with you my "tragic" morning!! I went out to do the usual chores - feed everyone, clean out mini pond for the ducks (which inevitably ends up being the communal drinking pool), filled up waterers and check for eggs & wellness. Anyway, I am cleaning out our purple mini pool and what do you think happens to me? A HUGE spider jumps from behind the pool onto the run's fencing and starts climbing up BY MY HEAD!! I am SO proud of myself...I resisted the urge to a) SCREAM like the sissy I am and run for the house and b) Find the nearest blunt object and smash it to death and then some. I believe it was what was once explained to me as a water spider (I swear it looked like a small tarantula!!) and since they are not poisonous and/or harmful, I let it alone. LOL...let's just say that it was still VERY traumatic for me. LOL. It's going to be one of THOSE days I think!! LOL
That's freakin awesome, pats most definately on the back! I would have shreaked and smashed as a reflex! I would rather take on a copperhead snake than a spider. I'm a thirty two year old male that's 200 lbs scared of a dang spider. You did well grasshopper!

Could someone tell about how old these birds are? Compared to TarheelBirdy's, they are underdeveloped at 4 weeks.

I didn't see his pics but yours look like english buffs if I'm not mistaken. I raise these birds regularly. Yours are about 3 weeks old. I have some birds of the same hatch that will feather out quicker than their sisters so... they look about 18 to 21 days

Update for those who read about Henry. My buddy called today. Says Henry learned a new trick. I already told you that when he gets home he goes inside the house to do a couple chores first. And Henry at this time is pacing back and forth, head tilted sideways a bit, just peering inside like you comin out yet? Today he said he was in the house doing his thing and heard a bang!bang!bang!bang! He ran to the thin metal screen door in a hurry. He knew it wasn't a human knock but somethin was happenin. He got there and just Henrys head was pearing over the metal part and he said his expression was like, hey man... what r u doin in there. Henry has learned to knock on the door now. Crazy bird!.
