He puts it on himself around his neck and as he is bending over trimming/shoeing the horses can smell it on him.  I guess you could put it on the horse, too, but he likes them to associate him with the calming/relaxing smell.

On a side note, he DOES NOT smell like lavender when he comes home in the evenings!  More like gross hoof smell! LOL!  But he tells me, "that's the smell of money, honey" :)  and I guess he is right.....

Hope it works for your laundry!  I wish I was creative enough to make my own laundry soap.

I use lavender on my pillows - it helps with sleeping.

On the subject of eggs, I have a basket full from egg withdrawal with Tylan, the one you put in the water, Sat. was the last day of treatment so I guess it is ok to keep the eggs now? I saw an ad for Tylan, it didn't mention eggs but for meat 24 hrs after treatment. Look like eggs would be the same? Sure hate to waste all those eggs

What do you guys do with your bantam eggs?

Eat them, use in recipes, or sell to others to use. I prefer bantam eggs. A Large egg is 50-60% egg white. Bantam eggs are right at 60% yolk.

I love to use bantam eggs for deviled eggs. Also, I have a customer that buys bantam eggs specifically for pickling. She will fill a gallon jar with boiled bantam eggs to pickle.

Had a wonderful visit with Beth today...too bad it wasn't longer - or the girls didn't get enough exercise - something. All the excitement/trauma of leaving caused a shortened nap this afternoon, but it was ALL worth it. DD1 talked and cried about wanting to stay and play longer and DD2...she just babbled to herself before grabbing her blanket and going off to sleep! (I will intentionally omit the fact that I took a wrong turn going home and ALMOST got lost, but realized I was actually SUPPOSE to go North!! I'm so use to going South and East for everything, that to do the opposite, well...yeah). LOL SHHH!!
Was able to see/feel a duck egg so now I know what to be on the look out for!! I WILL be sending the hubby under the deck this weekend to check for "buried treasure" aka eggs!! I didn't realize they would actually COVER them up so when we've gone out searching in the past, we've only looked for a nest like a chicken would lay. Sheesh!!

Now where could they be burying those bad babies?? Maybe one day in the future, we'll come home to ducklings!?! LOL
Setting out the new eggs tomorrow in honor of DD's birthday (plus it will be easy for me to remember...LOL) as well as moving the new broody into her "alone" pen - where she can sit until her little heart is content...on those 12 eggs!! Hehe...maybe I should stick a duck egg under her too?!? LOL JK.

Hey All,
Hope everyone has had a good day! Quick question...What is a great source of protein for a sick hen? She is'nt eating much on her own so I am having to syringe feed her. I really want to keep her fat and happy until she feels good enough to be back with the flock. TY- Katie.

I tell my DH about the response I got of what to do with bantam eggs. He tells me to go ahead and hatch them. (I get to have chicks) Now I just need one of the girls to go broody.

So, daring woman I am, ask can I put a couple large eggs in too. He says yes.
