Good Saturday Morning everyone!!
I've been up since before 4, finally forced myself out of bed by 4 knowing I wasn't going to get any more sleep done...so I have been holed away in my HOT sewing room working on a little dress for my wee one who isn't so wee anymore (lol...she's bigger than my 1st)!! I'm too cheap to turn the AC on up here AND downstairs when we are hardly up here.
Found out July-August our home is going to be a revolving door. The in-laws are coming, my family is coming (well mom will be here to watch the girls for baby #3's arrival...unless she's early
). My sister is coming with her brood (11 yo boy, 9 & 8 yo girls) for her birthday and THAT ought to be interesting. They live on a working farm (they have sheep, pigs, rabbits, and farm 35 acres) BUT...the kids do absolutely NO work on the farm. They are use to watching lots of TV and playing tons of video games.
BOY are they in for a shock when they come here and we have NO TV, NO video games (hooked up anyway - and it'll STAY that way) and the computers are OFF limits.
Did I mention our house also has a "If you don't work, you don't EAT" policy as well as a "you eat what is put in front of you or go hungry" one?!? Yeah...I bet they will leave here and at least appreciate their mother a WHOLE LOT more. At least it'll be good for something.
Last time they visited, it was LESS than pleasant because there was "nothing to do" here. Ideas to "entertain" these kiddos would be much appreciated. I am hoping to NOT have to drive too far with a newborn (I believe Atlantic Beach is just over an hour away from us...so I'd like to keep the driving distance to no more than that) so suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. I am already planning on taking them to the NC Science Museum/History Museum (haha...educational too) and I am not sure WHERE the zoo is, but I did think that was a possibility.
On the chicken front...no news aside from I have a few new layers popping in and surprising us!! Yesterday we collected 6 eggs - so I am pretty sure we have at least 1 or 2 that are just starting to lay. BOO, no duck eggs....FINDING that nest is on my "to do" list today. I am worried though because we had a opossum visit our deck this morning, so I am sure IF there are any eggs out there, they might have already been raided. We're going hiking through the front woods to look for them (and firewood - must have a job for my nephew to do...cutting firewood is a good workout).
Luke - I hope your GF is doing well and that you've met the new one since I haven't seen you post!! If not...we're all keeping our crossables crossed for the two of you!!
Praying for a quick & smooth delivery!! Let us know when you can!!
