neighbor kids were down here this afternoon, and while I had my back turned they opened the door to my quail pen. Two days ago I got some bobwhites and today both females and the male took off

after a Three hour chase we lost all three in woods. I'm so bummed. It took me forever to find jumbo bobwhites. Now I'm back to searching for more.

I have Jumbo Bobwhites - raising some now, and hatching more soon. Sorry about the ones you lost! PM me if you want to discuss getting some more.

My little silkie seems to be doing a little better. Not hardly any more blood in the poop. Is it ok to still treat her and her brother and sister when the corid comes. Should be here today or tomorrow. Is there an egg withdrawal with corid and is the dosage 1-2 teaspoons per gallon for 5 days? Want to get this right. What is good to feed her with to put a little weight back on her? She lost a little from not eating a few days. Fix her some egg, yougart not really a favorite with all 3. Wondering about cat food? Just looked at my e-mail. Corid is arriving today. Any time now.
I would treat to make sure. Don't know on the egg withdrawal, but the jug might say on its back label. The amounts given and for how long are on the label. Yes!!!! someone else who has chickens that don't eat cooked eggs. Mine will eat a raw egg but not cooked

, but I had an old hen who free ranged during the day and she ate all the outside cat food every day. She was fat for a lakenvelder, but don't feed too much as it isn't the best for their livers. (I didn't worry with her as she was 11 yrs old and had quit laying eggs)

Just did more research on here. The dosage is right, do everybody, and its ok to eat the eggs. They also said cooked chicken livers were good for them to help put weight on. Henry the lakenvelder rooster I had also ate all the cat food and jump on the cats poor back to shoo the cat away. I miss my boy Henry. He was a good boy.

OK. The first pen with the EE's worming is doing good. Second treatment will be on Sunday. Got the Corid in the water for the silkies, the one with the problem, drank some as soon as I put it out there. Go to pen two and one looks like it has scaly-leg mite

Dang. I just realized I can't come to WCA this weekend. I promised my niece I'd be at her recital Sunday evening. 6:00 pm. At her church in Georgia. Since I don't have a time-turner, I can't be in two places at the same time. But, she will join me the week after, as she's coming back with me on Monday.

But I'm bummed about this week. I was planning on bringing all the Barnevelders, plus a few more turkeys. Guess they'll have to wait!

2 strayroos, I use liquid dish soap. I put it on every other day for a few weeks to smoother them and you have to do it long enough to get any eggs that might hatch. I have read of people using vaseline and the vet rx I got says you can use it as well on leg mites.

Man I just cant win with the chickens this year! I got 5 hens with chicks and so 5 silkies and 2 sizzles and my cornish/orp cross decide to go broody on me

Well I just put 2 turkey eggs under the last silkie that went broody, maybe this time I can get a picture of turkeys 3x the size of a chicken trying to fit under a chicken

Got the living room floor scrub today, with the help of DS. The kiddos have never noticed the floor after I scrub it (always done after they are in bed so I can enjoy it for 5 minutes after I'm done and before they ruin it the next day.) While helping me, he says "it looks good mom". Maybe he will be more willing to clean his mess up after having to scrub the floor

(I can hope anyways

) Kids have not said that they are board anymore. They now complain about not being able to watch tv or play video games

I sprayed the coop down and use DE. On her we use cooking spray and rubbed it in. She didn't even mind, act like it felt good. She doesn't have it too bad, just around the ankles, but I smeared it all the way up anyway. We got to go to TSC in a few days so I probably pick the vet rx up if they have some in stock. I probably keep up with the cooking oil until then.

What is the best for fly, bug, mosquito control...other than Guinea and Starbar Milk Jug stuff from TSC (didn't work for me last year!)???? Thanks!
Believe it or not, I bought those vanilla scented trees (car air fresheners) and have them hanging in the run where the rain can't get them, honestly I haven't seen that many flies. I need to get more because I think she used about 9. Smells pretty good out there. Got this from community chickens.
