I am just catching up Dutchbunny - I have some 1/4" hardware cloth that would make an excellent "cage" for hatching if your incubator has room. Let me know if you want some. I bought it from amazon and have a ton of the stuff. I can bring it to Ft Bragg on Monday if you want.

I think another silkie is trying to go broody

plus one of the mama silkie projects is chasing the kids 5 lb dog (the hen keeps jumping in the pen with her) The poor dog don't know what to think when the hen (thats bigger than her by the way) comes over the fence.

In my search for a sexed silkie I came across Amber Wave Bearded Silkies who apparently have a celebrity client list and show quality silkies that they DNA sex. They have a white female available now that's $175 after shipping. I want it so bad, I don't know how I'm going to convince my husband on this one! I don't show birds or anything so that's a pretty hefty price tag for a backyard chicken. It's soooo pretty though!
And I thought the Chocolate Orpingtons were bad at $50 / chick. (Figured if I got them, I could say I had chocolate for dinner but not at that price!)

Since it was a beautiful day we decided to take the babies outside to play. They loved every minute of it! They are growing so fast, each day they looked like they have doubled in size.
