Good Morning, Happy Chicken People!

Luka, your son is looking pretty awesome! Hope you feel better soon!

My niece goes home today, so I'll be doing some driving. Her mom is meeting me halfway, though. Good thing

Enjoy your day!

Sorry about your chick.................
for snake control since sulfur and wet ground isn't going to work......
another method is to get some of the plastic netting with small holes
and light lines..........put thin stakes into the ground around the coop and
put the netting over the stakes........kinda skewered through the netting
so it is in a loose accordion style weave. The snakes trying to slither
through will get caught up in it and then you can capture and relocate
to a more compatible area. The netting needs to be loose so they get
snared in it but you need to remove them soon after snaring so they survive.
I agree that all the wet areas and water are driving lots of critters to the dry
of coops and barns and houses..........just part of country life

Thanks CSB! This is a great plan... I would much rather relocate them and have an idea of where to take them. Just to make sure, the "fence" is vertical, right, around the coop?

Hope you and your niece had a great visit! Drive safely, it sounds like we are in for more rain...

Oh my! CSB - that is a LOT of water!! I hope it clears up/dries out for you soon!!

I have no news to report here...all is well on the chicken/duck front. I did get disappointing baby news...NOTHING has happened/progressed. My "last" appointment will be Tuesday and then we start discussing induction. The doctors already know (so I don't know WHY we have to discuss it) that I will refuse induction and if they schedule it, I'll be a no show...my labors are LONG enough with me able to get up and moving, I'm not about to be confined to a bed for over 12 hours and enduring back labor the whole time...NO THANK YOU! I may have to bust out the castrol oil and all that fun stuff...LOL.
Going to Vollmer Farms in Bunn this Friday for some blueberry and blackberry picking...SUPER excited about that!! They have a farmer's market too, so I am going to stock up on some tomatoes and all of the yummy things they have that I don't (like WATERMELON)...I do have watermelon growing....LOL, if it doesn't drown. Just so you can't blame me, I haven't done diapers unless it's ALREADY raining, so this time it's not me!!
I hope everyone has a safe and happy July 4th (maybe we'll celebrate with a baby?!? I'm still praying)!! A special THANK YOU to all our service men/women and their families for their sacrifices!! We can celebrate our Independence because of the FREEDOMS they protect!!

Good luck on getting baby out! DO NOT get induced until 41+ weeks, its just so much better to wait for the baby to come when ready unless there is a true medical indication.
It is raining again here at home, and we have a short trip to the coast planned this weekend to scope out some rental apartments for me. I GOT A MIDWIFERY JOB!!! Its full-time, at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune, I am pretty excited, but sad that I wont get to see my boyfriend, son, cats, dog and chickens every day. So they (the people) will visit me some and I will come home about weekly to visit them. Also our van decided it was done (needs more fix than I want to put into it), so we are buying a pick-up truck next week.

RF --When is the dock building party????
NH -- You are one tough cookie! Good for you. Hang in there we are all hoping for a baby that decides on it's own that it is time to come out in the world!
Nurse Becky - Congratulations!!! It is a tough time to get picked up at any federal facility, good for you!

I second NH's Thanks to all of the Service Members and their Families. Whether active, retired or prior service. It is because of you that we live in the land of the free! Everyone enjoy your holiday and be safe!

My plans for the weekend include building a new coop. I was just going to do the ususal 2x4 construction until I saw the coop on the home page. I have changed my mind and now I am going to build a pallet coop! Super excited!

Enjoying the rain, everyone? So different than just a few years ago when we were under sever drought and had all those water restrictions. I normally keep the pullets locked up unless we can be outside with them, but the ground is so swampy that I've let them out for the past 2 days. Keeping my fingers crossed that a hawk doesn't notice!!!
