And another
400

The last pic I posted you can see the tiny bit of fuzz around his face but my other easter eggers have much more prominent beards and muffs. I have a few more chickens with the same pattern as this one but not with his or her coloring.

Hi everyone!

We're back after 2 weeks and the kid next door kept all my chicks alive! :)
I really thought I'd be able to sex them all by now, but they are being quite tricky!
I'm going to keep 3, fingers crossed I get one girl in there!

At our resort in Punta Cana there were PEAFOWL everywhere!!! It was fabulous!!! The mama's all had little babies. They would even come eat food out of our hands. One sat on our veranda and would randomly call out all night. I loved it, my husband not so much! It's going to take some work to convince him on letting me get them now.

...and flamingos :)
They are beautiful and how cool is it to feed a flamingo!!

Yay for the girl next door.

sbrooks - Many hatchery ee's now don't have muffs and beards... I had a hen that would only throw chicks with clean faces. She laid beautiful big blue eggs though.

DB - great to have you back! Glad your neighbor kept the chicks alive!

How was WCA everyone?

I am in love with my new girls from Hollow!!!! They are beautiful and laying like mad!

I have decided to look for a wyndotte rooster. My 4 girls are about 7 months and my golden laced lady is the smallest one in the bunch and seems to be the one left out of everything. Can someone advise me if gettng a roo might help keep the girls, especially my 2 RIR in check? The are being more and more bossy as they get a older. None have started laying yet. I have one wyndotte, one brahma, and then the 2 RIR's.

Hello to all of you fellow North Carolinians! I am kind of thinking of starting a little business type thing with my chickens; like selling their eggs and stuff. Possibly thinking about selling baby chicks and fertile eggs. For that type of stuff do you need to get a certain type of license or special permissions? Any advice would be immensely appreciated no matter how small it is.

What really made me start thinking about started something with my chickens is because my family has our own horse back riding business. I thought it would be really cool to sell our eggs to our riders and stuff and maybe sell fertile eggs to whoever may want them.

Anyway if I'm begging for some advice and information I might as well tell you some about our business. We are located in the Concord area in Cabbarus County, near Charlotte. We do Birthday Parties, Horse Back Riding Lessons, some occasional Trail Rides (trail rides are included in Riding Lessons), and week long Horse Camps! We don't do any fancy show riding and our business motto is "Riding for the Fun of It."

Anyway, if anyone has any information of the chicken part of the business please comment or private message me.
Oh and if anyone wants to know anything or are interested in our Horse Back Riding business also feel free to private message me and I will be happy to give you more information! You may also visit our website:

www.kandyschanceranch.com

The website is a little out of date, but will at least give you all the information you need to get set. We are trying to expand to more new riders so please if you know anyone interested please spread the word! We can turn anyone into a really confident rider. We have riders from the ages of 3 and up! My grandmother still rides and she turns 72 in a month.

Anyway, sorry I'm rambling. If you're interested or have some info for me, please just PM me. Thanks!

Here are some pics of our horses

And since this is BYC I need to put at least one pic of chickens

Well, I went to check to make sure the pump was still pumping Lake Ramirez out of my yard after I got home from WCA. The lake has gone down just a little bit (DH says the pump pumps 28 gallons a minute

) I go over to check on the neighbor's side of the lake and as I cross the tree line between the yards, something scratches my ankle as it goes across my foot! I must admit I hollered and ran the rest of the way to his side of the lake, since I can't see in the dirty water. I seen how far his side wasn't down and had to go back across the tree line. I'm telling myself the whole time that it was one of my huge bull frogs that scared me. Half way back, as I carefully step across, I step on something hard that's not suppose to be there. After I poke around a tiny bit, I find this

Now from my middle finger tip to the outer edge of my palm is 7 inches and my hand doesn't even cover it from side to side

this is part of the area I found it in
