Good morning everyone! Looks like this storm blew over pretty quick (fingers crossed).

Love the photo of your leghorn, they're such pretty birds!

My turkey poults should be here tomorrow morning, getting excited!
Any tips for sexing them as babies, or is it pretty similar to chickens?
I ordered 20 to make the minimum, but only plan on keeping 4 or 5.
I know the boys are much larger so you get more meat, but they're pen is going right up against my neighbors yard so I'm trying to go with girls so the gobbling doesn't bother them...

I went with the broad breasted white.
It's our first time doing meat birds and I'm pretty worried about getting too attached so I thought ones with a faster processing time would probably be best. These should be ready to go late Nov/ early December.
I guess I'll just take the luck of the draw and hope they aren't too noisy by then!
Now these aren't freakish birds like the cornish crosses are they???
We had them for a week and I gave them away, I didn't like them. I have some freedom rangers shipping out today too, hopefully they are a good alternative, we will see....

When I had looked into them I heard that they were more active than the cornish crosses is that not the case?
I knew about the health problems, I just don't like them being little blobs that just lay there. The cornish crosses I got were just gross.
The freedom rangers are supposed to be more like heritage chickens than the cornish crosses. They're ready to process in 3-4 months, but don't have as much meat.

Hello! So I have been thinking about this wet chicken coop thing! Yuck! And was trying to think of something to absorb some of this excess water and I though about ground corncobs. Some use it as an alternative to cat litter because it biodegradable and I've known places to use them to clean up spills so it just just be swept up with a broom. So my question is that I know it would work but will it hurt my chickens if they eat it? Is it going tO be any worse to shovel and clean up than compacted poo mud and god only knows what else? and has anyone else tried this before?
