I'm new to this thread, but I've been hanging around BYC for a while...I live in Greensboro. It's surprising to see how many people here are from NC!
Welcome! There are a bunch of NCers's here.![]()
We're in Wake County, how about you?
We had a new experience this weekend. One of our buff ducks was acting sluggish and waddling like she had an injury to her leg. So as per our normal procedure for leg pains we brought her in and put her in a warm bath. An hour later when I checked on her and found 2 eggs in the tub. Apparently she was egg bound, glad the warm water did the trick cause I had no idea.

Wow! That worked out nicely!
Thanks GuysHopefully that was all that was stuck. I had a young golden lakenvelder hen that was egg bound. By the time she showed any sings of this (she was a sporadic layer) she was really bad off. I did the soaking but shortly into it she died. Being that she was of a harder breed to find, I cut her open to try and save the egg. That's when I found out that she had 11 soft shelled eggs in her. So I would suggest you feel around really good on the duck and maybe soak her some more just to make sure. As my hen never showed any sings till that last day. Good luck
