I have read to put a layer of pine straw then put shavings or regular straw on top and turn it throughout the winter and add more straw ect on top. I would be afraid that just the pine straw wouldn't soak up the moisture and might stay wet, but it is worth a try. You can always add shavings or straw later.

So like a lasagna, but stir it? Can do. :)

Hey everyone, haven't been on in a while, been really busy! Got some new girls!!!

2 Welsummer Pullets and 3 Silver Laced Wyndotes

We also got two bantam pairs. Does anyone know what type of breed these guys are? The guy told us, but I cannot remember it for the life of me!!! They are extremely friendly and pretty.

Then we also got Elvis and Percilla

DST,
Pretty birds! I think the ones you are unsure of are Campines.
