Help! I don't know if this is serious or not, but I just thought I should ask the people who have more experience. Today I finished building our little "Banty Hut" for our Campines. I then moved around the Cochins and our Maran pullet and cockerel (so everyone has more space). I noticed that our Cochin pullet and Maran pullet has a really watery eye that looks like its foamy-ish. I've never seen something like this and was just wondering if it is just like something got into their eye, or something serious?!?! I mean one of their eyes are completely normal and fine and the other is just really watery and foamy.

This is what it looks like

My cochin looks like this too. She just wouldn't stand still long enough for a picture. They are both acting fine, nothing out of the ordinary and as active as ever. Anyone able to help?!?

Built this for our Campines! Now I just need to find more hens to go to our rooster...

(Ignore the torn down stuff in the background! It use to be a shed type garage that was torn down recently in a storm! To much rain!!!! It is hopefully going to be turned into the base of our new giant chicken coop for all of our laying hens!!! The base was metal so we are planning on building off it and turning it into a nice giant coop!)

Welcome ncsidewinder! Your about an hour and forty-five minutes from us... No one with chickens, that are on BYC, are near me!!! Ugh... Anyway welcome.

You're not going to want to hear this, but if you have foamy eyes you possibly have infectious coryza.
Mine got that in the spring and I had to cull all of them

I tried tylan injections in the breast, but it kept spreading

Keep checking them mine started like that then got watery noses and finally this wretched small coming from their face. It progressed over a few weeks and eventually spread to almost everyone! I'm hoping for you it's not that, but from what I've heard that's a big sign of coryza...

Should I try to isolate the two that has the foamy eyes?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I really didn't want to here that!

. What do I do to stop it from spreading and how to treat it?!?!?

I would separate them, it can't hurt. At least until you know for sure what you are dealing with.
I don't want to make you panic, I'm far from a chicken expert, but that was how mine started with a foamy or bubbly eye and it progressed to the runny nose and eventually the smell.
I'm hoping that's not it, though I don't know what else has those effects, coryza is all I've dealt with.
Hopefully someone else can confirm or give a different diagnosis.
But in the meantime if you can quarantine I would!
I'm sorry!!!

I would give antibiotics too. I tried a few, but Tylan was the most recommended. Since mine had other symptoms but the time it started I had to inject it right into them, but they have a medicine that will go right in their water.

I did a search on here for "foamy eye" and here's the best info I came up with. Good luck!

There are a LOT of posts that talk about foamy eyes so I didn't read all of them but most seem to come back to this same diagnosis and treatment.

OH!! AND... I also read that if they have been sharing breathing space and are already showing signs then your other birds have already been exposed so there's no point in isolating. I personally would still do it just to be safe though.

Hey everyone, long time no chat, have been lurking in the background keeping up. School and work have kept me pretty busy. We are still battling the mysterious duck ailment, it only effects our two largest ducks. No clue what it could be so we take it one day at a time and it does not seem to be a spreading kind of thing. Unfortunately we lost our little EE this last week. She was very unique- as in she danced. Apparently, as best as we can figure, she laid her egg near the fence and decided to stay with it at night. We honestly didn't even notice she was not in the house at night hiding in her usual corner and she usually hid during the day. We took out some treats and noticed she didn't bee-bop up and grab some. After a long time hunting we found her. DH was very upset, she was the friendliest we had. She absolutely HAD to have a pet every morning. Needless to say there is an mandatory count every night now. On top of that we got a new flock member as well. There was a posting for a silkie roo on CL and DH decided we should get him. Surprising since we didn't want any roos and ended up with one anyways(wrong sexing from hatchery) so now we have 2. He is in quarantine now. Hopefully he will take a shine to the silkie and GL polish hens we have and leave the big girls to the big boy. Sir Scuttlebutt is very friendly and likes being held.We just have to make sure he is healthy and that we can get rid of his bugs.
