Hi Everyone I am in the process of making more room for chickens so a few must go.

I have two black Marans Hens, one just started laying, the other should be laying anytime, they are 5 1/2 months old $20 each. The hens should be great layers, they lay a light brown egg. I am not sure why they lay a light egg, I bought the parents as Marans and the hen also laid a light color egg. I was hoping that the babies would have a darker color (from the Rooster's genes) but no such luck.

Also for sale are 1 Marans Roo (dark blue pictured alone), 1 Blue Marans /OE cross that looks like a Marans and two Blue EE Roos. All are also 5 1/2 months old and still growing $8 each. Offers on the Rooster will be considered. If they don't sell, they will be dinner. I am in Sanford, NC

Not to be rude but why are they so high in price Is this the going rate

Hens are selling anywhere from $10-$35. The time effort and money put into the hens, doesn't even cut it.

I'm getting $25/for each of my laying hens that I sell. It takes months to raise them and this is for general laying hens. Any specialty breeds are priced higher.

Side note after the past bit of reading. I got a buddy up in southeast KY who says folks are selling/buying fertile Golden Laced Wyandotte eggs for 15$ a dozen right now if they can get'em. I'm just starting to warm up my new incubator!
