Had some good fellowship today.at the East Fayetteville Swap even if I couldn't get Scoop nor.Rameriz to take my water chicken (duck)

Sooooooooo....the duckis nestled BACK my coop..
.suprised the Hamburgs didn't draw much intererest...i did come home with my FBCM and olive.egger..

All is well at rhe Iceman's EXCEPT.for the duck!!!!

The duck was a cutie, but I have no pond either (I keep pumping it out

) and yes it was great company today. I hate freezing, but its not too bad when there is great company to be had

. Just wish the rest could have came out to play. How do the boys like your new FBCM and olive egger?

I did.sell a.saxophone today so I am looking some more old horns. Sax,clarinet,trumpet's etc...

It was a good day even if it was a bit cold and I enjoyed the Iceman and Ramirez company.
Sorry but the water chicken is just too small/young to fit into my group so can't take it home.
I did manage to sell most all I brought today.....only brought home 1 english orp hen.
I also lost my voice somewhere in the wanderings today and managed to find a chest full
of crud.........ratsafratz

VetRX is suppose to kill eye worms as well. A few drops in the eye and done. But I have never dealt with eye worm before. (will probably get it now

Thank you Tammy!!!! I looked through the pictures and it does look a lot like what they have!!! I do hope that eye worm ends up being the issue just so it isn't as severe as like coryza or a respiratory disease...

Any suggestions as to where I can get some? Crossing my fingers you don't!!!! (Don't want to jinx anything!)

As others have said, VetRx or Valbazen are in many feed stores. The VetRx is certainly going to be cheaper.

Valbazen is a broad spectrum wormer that is for cattle, sheep and goats. Using it for chickens is an off label use but recommended by many chicken folks. If you use it give it to your chickens, stop eating the chicken's eggs for two weeks, re-dose (to kill any remaining worm eggs) and stop eating eggs for another two weeks (a month for the total treatment). When my neighbor told me that she had been getting preventative worming treatment from her physician and she was given Valbazen, I became less worried about eating the eggs. I think I started using them again after the third week. You can feed the eggs to dogs with no problems. For dosing, do a search on BYC. You will need a syringe (no needle) with measurements to measure the dosing. When I have given it, I put the Valbazen on a small piece of bread and hand feed it to each chicken. The ones that would not take the bread from me got medication squirted in their mouths. Either method works well but the bread is certainly easier. The container is very large and will last for quite a long time. If you were closer, I would give you some!

If there is anyone close by to Mooresville that would be willing to come get him, I would love for him to go to a good home. He is super friendly and approx 5 months old. Not sure I am up to candeling and raising babies yet.

you could keep him and not have babies. All you have to do is collect eggs everyday or even every other day. The eggs have to be at a certain temp for a few days before it starts to become a chick.

Happy New Year and hope everyone and your chickens had a Merry Christmas. I'm treating a mild case of frostbite from the other night. When I let my 2nd pen out yesterday, I noticed my EE wasn't jumping up and down to get out and when she came out she was limping and her eye was closed shut. I brought her in the house and put a warm cloth to her eye and it slowly began to open and her color on her comb started to look better, I watched her trying to stand and she didn't want to put pressure on her foot. I think her foot got a mild case of frostbite. She stayed in the sunshine wrapped in a fleece small throw and I gave her sugar water and she ate some scratch. Last night I put her in a box with the heat lamp and she is standing on it today with a little limp. Put her back in the pen with the other 2 and it's who are you! Keeping a watch out and putting wood on top of their floor and another coops floor that has a tin floor to it. It gets very cold and I use lots of shavings, but they scratch it all around. Didn't check the coops that night because it was late when I got home and they were already put to bed. The one with the swollen wing, I think the air sac is leaking something, it's yellow and has a fishy smell. I put Blue Kote on it, that's all I have. It doesn't look as big, but what is that smell? Hope I didn't do wrong. I never puncture it, hoping it would do it on it's own and I guess it did. Any suggestions on both?

Squeeze out the rest of the fluid in the wing and wipe clean and re blue kote it.
