North Carolina

Replaced the tin floor with wood in both coops, finish putting up the plastic on the runs, had the backside up until the wind blew it off the other night, left the front off because of Christmas decorations but now it's complete. Couldn't get nothing else out of her wing, put more blue kote on it but the smell is awful, a cross between fish and hate to say road kill

What's causing the smell?

infection. Sounds like an abcess burst.

Anything else I could do? I wonder what boil ease would do?
The best thing you can do is to keep it drained, clean and put the
BluKote on it and just let it heal slowly. You do not want it to seal
back up until all the pus is gone completely. Clean it everyday and
keep it open so it keeps draining over the next several days.

I agree.........an abscess that has broke open and is now draining.

Good morning folks

Well it's back to the daily grindstone known by most
as a job.......work. I am lucky enough to have a job
that gives me time off breaks every now and then but
the drawback to that is the paycheck also has breaks
in it. The time off does make it nicer getting through
the holidays.......hope everyone had a good one.

I have to go back soon, too. Was going to go in today and start getting my brain organized, but we're getting a fuel delivery sometime today. And with a projected high tomorrow of 25(!) I'm staying home, since I can, to keep ice broken and switch out rabbit bottles. I have a rabbit due any day and am hoping she waits!

Well knowing how the cold can effect you, please be careful and if you
need help you better give a call for some help.

A lovely 19 degrees out there. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Think I'll end up swapping water bottles several times today for the rabbits. It'll be interesting when I go out to see how the water has fared for the chickens. So far, water in the houses has not frozen, but the lowest we've gotten has been 23. Lots of body heat keeping the chicken house temps above freezing. How much can it handle?

Went to the Mebane outlets yesterday with Sis. Somehow I ended up buying baby things. How did that happen?
Grandmas and baby things are very much like Chicken Math!
