No heat for any birds at my place. Not even youngsters..hatched in Oct. or itty bitty Seramas.

I was wondering what the youngest bird you would put out in the coop with no heat. I have 2 Sept. girls out there now. With one red heat lamp hanging in the mid. of my 4x8 ft. coop, but not really near them. it's still pretty cold in there. Do you think they will be ok. They are all fluffy feathered out, and have been in the garage every night so far. They are seperated from the other girls, but I have been checking on them tonight and seem ok for now. What do you think?

Nah...the bees are Russian...no Vodka here but with three year old twin boys there is the slim chance that daddy's 51 years of sobriety may be tested. ...!

Yeah, Oct. And I have 5 together. This time of year, with the current weather, i would not put anything under 3-4 month old out and probably wait even longer. Those younger birds have been out since Dec. (when it was 40-50* warmer)

I have Sept. babies in the coop with everyone else. They were broody babies but their mother was killed by a predator. They are doing fine.... They huddle together on the roost and sometimes scoot under one of the big girls if its really cold.

Yeah that sure is easy to do. I am hoping to start my flock down there though. I hope the weather is decent.
