North Carolina

Okay thanks!
I just looked at it, and from where I am in Fayetteville it's close to 2 hours each way so I think that's a little too far, I have so much to try and get done here this weekend (and process like 50 quail!)

Any thoughts on these ducks, can I put them out with a heat lamp or do they still have to be in my house?

no feathers plus cold air means they will need heat lamp.

what kind of ducks?

7 White Pekin & 3 Buff. At least that's what I was told...
They are 2 weeks old & got big really quick, but no feathers. They're eating a ton of flock raiser too, so I need to downsize & get them outside!
There are 2 black Swedish, but my kids already called dibs on them.
I'm also keeping 1 of the Pekin & 1 of the Buff.
Fingers crossed at least 2 are girls because my husband won't keep the boys....

Yeah I've heard that.
I'm not getting rid of the boys for noise, DH said if I got ducks I could only keep the girls bc he doesn't want to keep feeding/caring for an animal that's not giving us eggs (except for his darn turkeys haha!!! they're not giving me anything, but a headache but he is stuck on wanting to keep them!)

You guys think the ducks are noisier than the turkeys? Our tom is LOUD when he gobbles & it's all day long with the dogs next door.

Yes, Bantam, and thank you. Closing off the nest box she liked first did no good. She got in another one...lol I can't close them all off, the other girls need them. I have been fluffing it every time (not knowing I was doing the right thing, ha ha), but that doesn't do anything either. I don't have the wire cage like you have (looks like a rabbit hutch?) So, in answer to Tikkijane, I don't mind that she is broody, so will just continue on "assisting" her until hopefully she comes out of it. She stayed outside in the pen much longer this afternoon without fretting so much about being on her "empty nest". Thank you for the support.

My tom turkey is louder than my Khaki drakes but my
Khaki hens are louder than the tom turkey. Duck hens
can get very loud when they are upset.

Hey everyone! giving you all first dibs on some chicks I will be giving back to my breeder. they are all roosters, and there are 5....one of them I may end up keeping.

Here's what I got:
-1 Japanese Bantam (male)
-1 white sizzle (male) (has curled toe)
-2 OE cross, mom is an OE cross and dad is a Japanese Bantam (males)

All 4 of these are now 36 days old, about 5 weeks. Hatched on new years eve, part of my NYD hatch.
Birds are on medicated chick feed, fed and given clean water daily. Brooder cleaned daily.

Please PM me if interested.

you may ask any questions and also may ask for pics or descriptions of the bird. cost will be PMed to you. You do have the option of taking the bird once it is old enough to go outside. (I will keep the bird until it is outside ready then you could pick it up.)

I can tell you where I receive my birds. please don't be afraid to ask! I will be able to meet halfway....only of its not TOO far from me.

When we lived up north the coldest months were January
and February......of course that was back in the stone age.
If that is the normal trend for here then we have a bit more
cold to get through but........ it seems in years past that for
around here the winter cold weather is done..........unless
that dang groundhog is right.

hope everyone has a good day
