We miss you too TammyHi Everyone!
I can't believe it has been two weeks and over 400 messages since I have been on here. Things have been incredibly busy at work, I have been working extra hours to help out another department. The money is good but I would rather be home.
I have been hatching chicks and bought a cabinet incubator about a month ago. It is AWESOME! On this first hatch I am at 80% which is way better than my past hatch rates. Fifteen eggs went to lockdown and I have 12 cute little chicks. I am still using my homemade "coolerbator" for hatching and it seems to be working well.
Matt, I love the crocus pictures! Your camera sure beats my phone!!! I can't wait to see more pictures. We just noticed the first crocus in our yard on Sunday. The first signs of spring.
Hopefully I will be on here more, I miss you all!
Tammy
get the goat dutchbunny ! if i wont stuck here in this subdivison i shure would get me a couple.. i even have to be careful of my potential to hoard chickens. im not in the city limits and i have a fenced in yard so as long as they stay here in my yard im fine, but i cant have anything that can fly away and be all around , the tiny rooster i gave my friend that i bought with my other tiny rooster nugget ( i have to clip his wings and he actually has no desire to range he stays in his tractor basically.) anyway the tiny rooster got loose here the day i got it ( i was trying to clip wings to keep him) you would have thought my neighbors had seen a vicious large pit or something..they literally ran inside their house.. and its teeny. not aggressive at alll..thought id never catch him lured him in his cage with cheese puffs.. then let her have him unclipped ( she lives in the country and he free ranges there) .. so i want to sell this and move is the moral of my story.I don't think I've ever wanted an animal as much as I want that goat right now!!!!!!
Oh I'm so sad I've wanted a goat foreverrrrrrrrrrrr!
She's so pretty too!
I've almost bought one a couple times too, but DH talked me out of it. I'm pretty sure we aren't zoned for goats either....though my next door neighbor has 14 dogs that I've counted, I believe more inside, so they really don't have much room to complain about me buying a goat...![]()
we will be back soon too jeremy ( im the same girl that texted a bit back to tell you how gorgeous my hens are and i think so far i have 2 that are def going to the show and 1 maybe) ..my book just came when are you gonna have the blue laced red wyandottes.. ? id like one of those for sure in my batchI'm glad your happy and that you ended up coming by. Good Luck with your girls and remember my door is always open if you need me.
Daphney-- I AM in the city limits of I would have a whole herd of goats by now haha!!! My yard is fenced, but I haven't had to clip wings yet, none of my animals leave the yard, surprisingly, as they are all quite capable of getting out. Even the 2 rabbits & guinea pigs don't try leave. The only thing I have caged in are my 5 quail.
Matt-- nice pic hope this means Spring will stay!!!
Tammy-- Welcome back!
Biologynerd-- Good luck with your meat projects. Have you ever had the freedom rangers before? I love them, they are all I will use. We have more coming this summer, need to clear out the freezer first.
CSB-- My frizzle Olive Egger laid her first egg yesterday![]()
I read someone posting about an incubator, but it's not letting me go back to find the name without erasing all I've typed. I bought the cheapest incubator thinking I'd only do one hatch. It was the still air farm innovators for like $45 on amazon, also carried at TSC. I ended up adding the auto egg turner a couple hatches later and most recently the quail racks. It's pretty basic, but honestly it gets the job done. I've had some great hatches, don't need anything fancy. I had it running on my table for 7 months without a break haha.
