North Carolina

I did the math and it's $50 for the trip and the DE. I guess my best option is amazon.

Check out Town and Country in Sanford. I got a 40 lb bag
for under $20 a few years ago from them. They may still
have good prices on it.

But there is nothing better than waking up in the middle of the night to newborn baby chicks in the incubator... It's like Christmas morning. :) Also, did I mention PICS when they start hatching!!

FYI biopsy came out okay. They're just going to do another in 6 months since they're still pre cancerous. I'm too young for all this.

she said it would be a simple procedure if they do develop into cancerous cells but this is my second time around with it in 7 years. I'm 25 and no kids I hate to think what could happen but it's in the Lords hands
Its easy to say I'm giving it to the Lord....and I know that to be the only way to handle this....but I;m 65 and have had numerous biopsies and a lumpectomy...all turned out good...And that is something I praise the Lord for! Its just hard in between the scan and the pathology report....the not knowing! But you know, I sent a son to Iraq 2 x and Afgan once and Haitai once way back when there was the invasion....i turned it all over to the Lord....if he died here or there....he belonged to God... sooooo why can't I just turn loose of all the worries and LET GOD? I have to pray about this all the time!!! LOL Yes, I can imagine how you must be feeling, being so young.. You will be in my prayers!! Are you still in Nash Cty? I'm over outside of Red Oak.

@FVRM CSB is right, Carolina Town and Country in Sanford usually has large bags of DE. I believe they are 40 or 50 lb bags. I don't believe they are very expensive. You probably want to call first to check price and if it is in stock - or you can go for the trip and fun of visiting the store. They usually have chickens, lots of chicks in the spring, tropical birds, puppies, kittens, and other interesting stuff. They also host a flock swap the first Saturday of each month.

Welcome to the new folks!
Congratulations to everyone with new chicks! I love hatching time

SBrooks - congratulations on a clean bill of health. Wishes for continued good news.

I just looked at their facebook page and they're having a chicken contest on the 22nd. This might be my excuse to go buy it there, but I'm also interested in checking out their chicken swap april 1st. I guess it'll depend on how busy i am on the 22nd

Town and Country has 40 pound bags of Red Lake food grade diatomaceous earth. It is not white because of the natural presence of calcium bentonite. I bought a bag a couple of years ago and feel like it was inexpensive... Like $20 or less. It has lasted me sssooooo long. I don't foresee needing another for a couple more years.
You also may want to check the location of the chicken contest.. I want to say I heard Aloha Zoo.. Which would be neat! I've never been there before. :)
I will at least stop in for the April flock swap if not sell some birds.. If I still have my extra white leghorn and sicilian buttercup point of lays. Regardless, I'd love to meet some more BYC people!! :)

I always love window shopping there.......so many interesting animals
to see and I usually had good luck at their swaps too.

Glad to hear the good news SBrooks....hope you continue to do well.

I guess if it's at Aloha zoo I might not go I think that's in cameron? that leaves April 1st, I hope i can make it. Usually, i'll plan something for weeks and at the last minute I'll get a bunch of texts from clients asking me if i'll be working that day. And of course I'll say yes :/ i'm planning on ingesting the DE myself and for the chickens, i've heard calcium bentonite removes mycotoxins

My addicition was fed this week, topped off the 'bator woth frizzle eggs...can't wait, Spitzhauben, polish blue splash over Andulision, and some interesting frizzle mix...

Thinking about adding incubators and related supplies to my nursery business. Any input from the faithful here? With bees and chickens, might as well add to my inventory especially since my anti-farm neighbor helped me expand and rezone!!! Chaulk up a win for rhe good guys! City folk need to stay in tje city. I can basically open up like a farm supply store here now!

USDA FARM #8076 sure is music to my ears!
