Ok pics as promised!! The gray looking structure was an existing "pen" about 8x16, fully enclosed. There is also an outer pen 20x50, open air.

So we attached some 2bys to the end posts and laid out a full sheet of 3/4" exterior plywood. We then covered that with some bathroom type paneling.

There are 5 nesting boxes, not that we need that many. It is more like a chicken condo. There is a roosting pole, heat lamp and lots of room. We seal it up at night and let them roam in the morning. However, wi the crappy weather headed our way tomorrow we may keep them inside the condo tomorrow.

Yes I look at all those things.. I don't know the cause of the black you see on a lot of combs but I don't like it..and I do look at the overall appearance of the bird... I understand a broken feather or molting but if it looks unkept to my standards I don't want it because I'm afraid it hasn't been properly cared for. I also don't like seeing some people mishandle birds. Im not referring to just pucking up by feet as its necessary at times. I'm talking about ones who literally stuff them in boxes together where they can't move or fling the cages around like it doesn't bother them to be slammed around. I've seen this at swaps. I despise it.lol.

I'm in the Stedman area of cumberland co. I have a mix of breeds, and hope to be hatching some Barred rocks soon. I am always interested in a flock swap, so please keep me posted on any in the area. I am also open for buy, sale, or trade.
thanks

I'm north of Rocky Mount (Nash co) and I seriously need to offload some boys. I've got silkies, black bantam cochin, and maybe an EE.....

When are they hatching?

Mine are hatching the first week of April - if you're about 2.5 hrs drive away - don't think the drive - even half way - would be worth it for mine lol. They don't seem to meet the standard IMO. If you weren't asking me, just ignore this lol
Good luck on you're search

I have BCM eggs in the incubator, also setting a batch this week.

Awesome! Good luck! Maybe you're closer to tjbuckshotbarn?

Glad it worked out for you! I'd do the same :)

Oh, you're kinda far from me (New Bern) & hubby isn't exactly keen on having a rooster anymore; we're rehoming our roo in the next week or so. I really hope you find someone who can take them. I've been talking about wanting a Cochin roo

Black in combs? Stuffing then slamming cages? I despise that too! How awful :(
I don't think I'll ever go to a flock swap. I'd rather just swap on here anyway :)

Good morning folks

I sure hope it isn't so cold today that I just can't
get warm.........hate when I have one of those days.
It is odd to see the trees in bloom and the daffodils
up and flowered and it be cold and chilled weather-wise
.......I'm not as tough as those flowers these days.

hope everyone has a good day
