My Swedish Flower Hen (SFH) is broody with 7 eggs, my Miniature Silver Appleyard duck hen is collecting eggs to hatch, and I have 20 Barnyard Mix eggs in the incubator!

are the 7 eggs from her?

well our first hatch is complete.. we have 8 good chicks from 20 eggs.. 11 hatched but 1 died ..idk y .. and 2 we had to cull for leg problems.. looked like a slipped tendon but on the first one like that i got it in place and put the little band aide brace on .. but by this afternoon it was swollen bad and looked infected looked in the bator and another had same issue but his leg wouldnt move at all .. so our first cull of baby chicks as well.. no bueno. .. but on the other hand the fact that 11 (almost 12- one died while hatching ) hatched my first try i am ok with .. and 8 fluffy babies in my brooder make me smile ..now why i have felt the need to basically stay awake the majority of the past 4 days waiting on chicks , watching chicks, etc i dont know , i hope that tendacy goes away with my 2nd hatch ...lol

what type of incubator are you using? I used the ones made by Brinsea. I've gotten almost perfect hatch rates with them.

The days are steadily getting more warm ones than cool
ones and green is just about to burst out everywhere. I
can see the azaleas are just about to display and if we are
luck enough the dogwoods will bloom out at the same time.

I have had most of my eggs go past 25 days, so I assist hatch on final day and found developed chicken that failed to absorb the yolk. Some looked further along than others. Temp-98-99 humidity day 1-18 is 30-40% lock down day 18 raise humidity to 60-70%. I wAit 25 days before assisting. I am turning eggs 2-3 time per day by altering incubator, not by opening the lid.

Picking up BBS English Orp chicks today, of a different bloodline than what I have already! I'm quite excited! I had planned on adding a new bloodline of my Ameraucanas too, but decided to stick to EEs because of the continually perpetuated misinformation on the two purebreds versus the mutts. Some of that is ignorance and some of that is intentional. You can work on educating ignorance, but there isn't much you can do about willful disregard, so I will no longer be raising purebred BBS Ameraucanas. I'll look on the positive side and say that it means one fewer breeding pen and less money spent on breeding stock!

Right now I've got EEs due to hatch in a week that are my Golden Cuckoo Marans cocks over my Blue and Black Ameraucana girls. Will be interesting to see what I get, especially after a couple generations of going back and forth with this type of cross. A fair number of Buff Orps due next weekend, too. Some are pre-sold, so if you are interested in any, let me know!

Happy Bday to your niece Meg. Sorry to hear of you not breeding the pure AMs, but understand why. Some people can't understand it when I say my parents have all 3 (ee, ameraucanas, and araucanas). But you gotta love it to feed it for long
