Like bumpy you could say I can't get a pick of the egg because she's layin on it and won't get off Long enough for me to get a pic. Lol. Could someone tell me what the heck kinda chicken she is?

When mine are on the nest and I think there's one under her I know she's going to peck but none of the pecks have every hurt. I just slide my hand under her with my palm down so I can grab the egg/s, They fuss and raise cane but I just take it out. You have to lift her a little as you go under if the egg is fragile. First eggs can be weird looking to soft and almost rubbery feeling. I would take it out and break it over a bow;...Think you will find a perfect egg on the inside. Sometimes they even lay an egg without a shell...wild !! They will get the hang of it within an week of so. Don't worry about the looks for the first eggs although its fun to have picts of them to remind you of the progression of their development. Its ok.

Can you show the whole body including legs, please? A head shot doesn't give us much to work with.....

she has dark green legs! Like almost a brown green color. I don't want to disturd her too much while she's sitting on her first egg. Lol. I'll get it out later I just want DH to see that she's going to be a good mama hen if we decide to just let her lay on it. :) I'll see if I can find a pic of her I already have too.

hi everyone! future first time chicken owner here! i am so excited, my coop and run are all set up, and i'm now looking for 2 to 3 just ready to lay pullets. after research i have decided i would love 2 heritage (maybe barred rock, rhode island red, and 1 (sex links? i.e., golden comet?) i have found a local source for golden comet pullets (15 weeks) but haven't had any luck with any heritage breeds. i am only allowed 5 and want to add gradually, as egg production slows, so that i never have 5 hens that don't lay :) can anyone help? i live in the davidson/charlotte area, and would be willing to travel an hour or so i guess....thank you so much!
