Hi everyone! Haven't posted in a good long while - lots of random, very little time going on at my house! You may remember a while back that we got an EE hen to add to our little flock...and that the hen eventually CROWED! Yep, she was a rooster. We decided to keep him and name him Victor (for one of my favorite movies, "Victor Victoria" with Julie Andrews). He's grown up to be an incredibly GORGEOUS bird, which has got me thinking. I'm wondering if I should feel sort of bad for keeping those gorgeous genes out of the pool. We're NOT interested in doing the chick thing (and none of our girls are interested in sitting on their eggs, thank goodness), but it occurred to me that someone else might be looking for a fine specimen of rooster-hood. What do you guys think?
how much do you want for that bird? Or I have an OEG X rose comb asil or a couple barred rocks at 6 wks he's beautiful and would be great for my EE flock

Nice! I have not yet seen an Anatolian Shepherd in person but I have seen a good number of Great Pyrenese. They are pretty cool dogs although I have only seen 2 or 3 in a working capacity. It's cool stuff.

I think I might be a part of the facebook group that you are talking about. There are always tons of videos showing these dogs working with their livestock. It's amazing.

You are welcome to come out and see him....it will be on the other side of the fence though. :)

Come on over and play...:) https://www.facebook.com/groups/LearningAboutLGDs/

It was like a chicken soap opera at my house last night. I lost two chickens yesterday, likely the neighbor's dog. The pair apparently hopped the fence and got attached by that a*hole Boxer that stalks the fence :( One was my last purebred Brahma I was trying to pull eggs from (my roo is also a Brahma).

I checked on the remaining girls and discovered another one has gone broody. Need to figure out if I want to add her to the chicken tractor with the other broody...she will be hatching hers this weekend. Checked on the one in the tractor and noticed a foul smell so now I'm not sure if those will hatch this weekend after all...I need to get under her and see what's up but had too much going on last night to do it then. Shew!
was the dog on your land? If so shoot it (if your not in a town)

Scott.

LOL. I just may do that one day.
Hey, I can always wear my bite suit. ;)

Ok off topic of gloom does anyone in or around sanford have grown hens to rehome? Too much male ego on my yard and I'd like to keep the roos so adding more hens seems the way to go ( I've been wanting a silver spangled hamburge hen ;) lol ) I have a bunch of EE chicks I could trade aswell many colors let's say 4 chicks for one (not old) hen fair enough right?
