OMG! I pull out chicken pictures, too!

People who know me have learned all they have to do is say chicken, egg or anything remotely related and I pull out pictures or start with stories.

Scott, She was on my land and not by just a little bit but by hundreds of yards from our property lines. I've thought hard about that option, I really have, but the situation is that the dog belongs to a child who my children play with regularly who happens to have the misfortune of belonging to irresponsible pet owners. She is a sweet dog too that they have had for years, before I had chickens. I can't bring myself to put her in the crosshairs. :/

I have a similar situation with my neighbors and their dogs. Their boxer came onto my property and killed 3 of my chickens. I didn't have a fence yet for my own dogs so I didn't say anything to the dogs owner since at the time my dogs went on to their property too (they don't have birds of any kind though). Now that my own dogs are securely on my own property and fenced in it's time for a chat with the neighbors about their dog since he keeps trying to come on my property. Sometimes just talking to the owners and letting them know that they will be held financially responsible for anything that happens to your chickens as a result of their dog coming on your property is enough. Don't confuse the dog by letting it come on your property with the kid to play with the kids.

As for shooting, I recommend a paintball gun for these scenarios. They can be pretty painful but still not do any real harm. Plus it would let the dog owners know that a) their dog was on your property and b) you will shoot it - and maybe next time with something more lethal or harmful. Most dogs once being shot by something like that won't risk a second shot. If the dog, or the dog owner are particularly stubborn maybe upgrade that to a bb gun or something.

Sorry to all those dealing with dog predators :(
Had my fair share this year too. Thankfully as are moving in June and will be constructing Ft Knox for the chickens as well as fencing in our backyard for our dog to prevent any wandering and potential mischief on other people's property.

In good news, my white leghorn laid her first egg this morning! I can't help but to refer to it as a "supermarket egg." ;)

W e l l... I had to disbatch another dog today this time it wasn't attacking my goats it was attacking my chained up dog. the owner came down the hill and I asked if the big red dog was his he said yes I said well its dead come get it he was trying to kill my dog. ( no collar = feral attacking my animals = dead ) he wasn't too happy but its my legal right and if my dog did the same I'd expect the same or do it myself. I don't play that crap when I bred ribbits in FL I lost over 50 in the hour! I was at the store it was a nightmare all papered champions ripped to pieces by one dog, so now I don't mess around... and for people that say my dog wouldn't do that... let me just say if they get up with a pack of dogs that does then the pack instict kicks in and your little lap pet laberdoodle becomes coojo! I've seen it happen first hand once with a litter of 12wk old mutt puppies that got carried away during play time and tore there own mother apart and ate her true story

Hey guys, hope all is well, I haven't really been around in awhile, things are pretty crazy over here.

My neighbor is complaining about ducks I need to rehome ASAP!

I was hoping to get $20/ pair (1 drake/ 1 hen)

4 months old, so you should be getting eggs by summer.

I still have one of each: Fawn & White Indian Runner, Swedish (black), & White Pekin (female is crested).

Getting ready to try craigslist, though I hate putting birds on there. PM me if you are interested, I can send pics.

THANKS GUYS!!!
