Excellent advice, of course. I am much more well informed now. The last time I saw this specific guy, he was selling orange barred chickens with single combs. So the question is, are there a lot of shady chicken people in fayetteville, or just one awful one in particular? I suspect it's the latter as most of the chicken folks that I have met in the area have been honest and outstanding people.

More like a few shady folks who get around a lot. They make to almost every swap, auction, flea market
and anywhere else there are chickens. They sell often on CL and just change their name or ID to keep
folks fooled. I'm very careful about letting anyone come to my to see birds these shady folks will/could
come at night and help themselves. If I sell to you please don't get offended if I insist on meeting somewhere
neutral........... it's just a safety/bio-security thing on my part. I try to be as honest as possible.........just
easier to tell the truth and have folks trust you........makes for happy and repeat customers.

I'm far too trusting for my own good.
I'm honestly pretty worried that this guy knows where I live. And in talking to him (he stayed for like 25 min chatting away like we actually knew each other), I told him the eggs I had coming to me & he was very adamant about wanting the chicks from the hatch.
Quite a few times I'd go to meet people and they wouldn't show up an I'd waste an hour of my day & my gas so I got fed up with it and had people come here. But better to waste your time then have someone knowing your family, your birds, and your house.
Fortunately I think this guy is just a cheat not a psychopath, but definitely makes me think about letting a stranger on craigslist know where my family lives!

You could still sell the extras to him if you want, just have him meet you somewhere else and don't give him a price break. Without a price break, he might not be so interested

If it makes you feel any better, I know where he lives if you should have any more trouble with him. That should level the playing field a bit. I doubt you'll have any more problems with him. He seems like a low life but I don't have any reason to suspect that he's dangerous.

Of course, I realize that it's not just one guy. There's lots of shady people out there. It just seems like every example given on here this morning is referring to the same people.
