How old are your CM chicks? I am looking for pullets. I ordered 9 BCM's and I''m afraid that I'm ending up with mostly cockrels !!  My DD and I are going to spit the pullets of marans so I'm going to end up with even less of the pullets. I paid well for the day old chicks....but will never ever do the chick thing again....too many unknowns   LOL
I don't have the regular Cuckoo Marans; just the Goldens. Just FYI, they aren't ones you'd want to breed to regulars, or to any other Marans. They are more recent imports. But I have some from a month or so on down to more due to hatch Wednesday. I've been doing weekly hatching. Next week will be my last for a bit. Pm if you want more info. I should get pics of the chicks, too!

I have too many eggs and my family is not a big fan of eating eggs on a daily basis. heck we barely have time to eat anything. are there soup kitchens around fayetteville that would accept egg donations?

I wouldn't be supprised if it a government backed control tactic to get rid of backyard flocks just like the GMO cross polenation scam where they plant GMO corn next to your corn and when it cross polenates they sue for everything you own for haveing they're product or maybe I'm a crazy who knows lol
Nice to see i'm not alone in my thinking ;)

Well I got the white crested black polish I was needing at auction last night and did ok on my sales BUT the buz was killed this morning when we realized that the same **** pack of dogs came again durring the night and ripped the 3 flemish giant rabbits I got for my wifes valentines day gift to shreds! only found a leg! she was so upset I almost cried

We also have more than we use for ourselves. however, we take a do put together a dozen or 1/2 dozen for the custodians at out church and the church secretary said she would buy some I.if I ever had any extra from that. I love giving them away to our neighbors when I have them...everyone seems to appreciate them so much..

Soup kitchen would be a good idea, but I don't know if they will take homegrown eggs there may be some sort of regulations on that, I don't know.

On topic of eggs, has anyone found people not wanting your blue & green eggs??? I was pretty shocked, the colored eggs are always my favorite. So many people have told me they won't eat them because its weird? The little bit that I'm selling I don't even put any of the colors in anymore just do the real huge brown ones from my Orpingtons and a few really dark from the Marans.

Farmraised, so sorry about the dogs. I've lost more than a few birds to foxes and dogs, so I know how it feels. :(

I can't keep up with egg sales...more demand than I have hens, especially when I'm taking eggs for hatching! But I'll be growing out more birds for layers. And almost all my customers open their cartons first thing, hoping they got at least one blue or green egg, or a Wellie one with speckles. The Ameraucanas lay smaller eggs than I like, so we keep most of them. To make my EEs, though, I'm crossing them with bigger birds that lay bigger eggs, so hopefully the offspring eggs will improve in size. Currently have my Golden Cuckoo Marans extra roos over those Ameraucanas, and the GCMs lay a nice big, dark egg. Should get some good olives from those!

I also weigh the eggs that I sell, and only large or above go in the cartons. I keep the smaller ones for my own use.
