$5 for the mixed breed ones and $8 for the australorps or easter eggers? Does that seem fair? The mixed breed ones are buff orpington/ easter egger crosses from my flock.

The Easter eggers themselves are mixed breed, so technically the mixed breeds are also Easter eggers since they come from an Easter egger.

That's true because it's such a general term. I felt the need to differentiate between the two though because they have totally different characteristics. The "easter eggers" came from a breeder that insisted that they were ameraucanas. However, I won't mislead people by calling them that. While she did have a few that looked purebred, she had all different colors mixed together so I consider what hatched from them to be easter eggers. But they hatched from blue eggs and their parents did too. It's pretty likely they'll pass on blue (or at least green) egg genes. The mixed breed "easter eggers" have one parent with brown egg laying genes. I have no idea what color eggs their offspring would lay, especially since the one hen was a mixed breed blue/ green layer herself. They look different too. They are both mostly buff colored with pink legs like dad.

Hi, everyone!
Hope you are all doing well on this lovely Wednesday! I can tell you that the heat is killing me the last 3 days. Finals are done, so now I've been in the backyard cleaning up and building my temporary coop. (It's all made from materials that I've pulled on garbage night.) I'm having so much fun with this one, I can't wait to start building the real one. It's interesting, I'm not using plans at this point, but for scrap material, I think it looks pretty cute. I'll post a few pics when it's all done. I think I've given myself a black eye, and my body is achy, but I sure am having a blast!

I've never been to that. I'll check it out one of these days. It's just hard to do stuff like that with our 1 year old right now. I worry about what will happen to them too. I would rather they live a short happy life and be humanely killed and eaten than have them live a long life where they are neglected or mistreated. If I take them to an auction, I have no control over where they end up. I like to think that the folks here on BYC would treat them well.you could get twice that at broadway auction
It is very rewarding to build from scrap with no plans! Everything I build is either 90 or 100% Reclaimed stuff mainly pallets I have several sorces for those 
Hey everyone. Newby from Youngsville here.
I have gotten many birds from auctions and I don't mistreat them. MANY of the BYCer go to these auctions...same thing. IMO
You could sell your birds to the "NICEST person in the world" and they could anything could happen to them, good or bad.
