So sorry to here about your flock Farmraised! Glad you're getting some new birds! Hope everything goes well with them!

Just checking in with everyone. Hello to all the new BYC'ers! Got a chance to go to Hollow Oak Farm last week, I really enjoyed myself! I almost walked away with those Chocolate Orpingtons that Hollow had there, but had to pull myself together and remember what my breeding plan is. Sometimes its hard to keep on track when you see pretty birds. I was able to purchase some EE and Wellie eggs, I'm sure they will do just fine. Thanks Hollow Oak!

We have gone a bit crazy this year with hatching and ordering, I probably have close to 300 started chicks and pullets of about 12 different breeds. If anyone needs anything, I am going to be running a chick sale to thin out some stock. Just PM me or call, 910 977 9759.

Thanks!

Guys I was always told and have read all over that japanese hornets are not in america I've seen these from FL to NY and now here it looks like a jap hornet to me! Any ideas?

JTBass-- Congrats to your son!!

Hope everyone's having a great day. About to go work in the garden (which I hope turns into floating on a raft in the pool drinking a beer watching my husband garden!

He's such a trooper, he always helps me on the weekends.

Enjoy the weekend everyone!!!

I am interested in opinions on something that has been bothering me. An acquaintance of my husband has been feuding with his neighbor over (the neighbor's) guineas for a long time. They come in his yard, make a bunch of noise, and poop everywhere. Their owner cannot or will not keep them on their property and talking to them has not helped. Apparently, he's sick of it and has just been killing them whenever he sees them on his land. The owner just keeps getting more. The whole situation makes me sad because I just love guineas and have several. My husband's acquaintance has said that I am welcome to come to their place and catch any guineas hanging out on their property. I'm really not sure what to do. They aren't his birds to give away.. but they are on his land and if I don't take them, they'll be used as target practice. What would you do?

tell him to call animal control or check local laws on it and if they say he can shoot them then giving them away shouldn't be an issue

Yeah, I get the feeling that this is a guy that just doesn't care what animal control says. I'll look into the legal issues though as I most definitely do not want to be stealing anyone's animals. The whole situation just makes me sick, but I may be better off just not getting involved. I just hate hearing about any living things that are made to suffer. It sucks that they are being punished for crossing a line that they cannot see.

My neighbor had another neighbor three houses down that refused to pen up his birds. A hen and 7 chicks stayed in my neighbor's flower beds all day tearing them up. Neighbor asked them to come get tjem, the boy's dad saod the boy could not afford feed so he let them free range.....so I trapped them, held them a week as he was told I had them, jist come get them and pen them up. Didnt hear from jom so I sold them. Of he fails to keep them on his property and they arr a neusiance, I think you can rrmove them. No tags or ID m?arkings??? Hard o prove ownership kn my book. Like a stray dog...hate to do it but at least you will save the birds....

sounds like you had a way to address the situation that could
satisfy everyone.......at least you gave the former owner a chance
to reclaim at no cost to them........if they won't claim them then
they won't care for them........just my 2 cents.
