I picked my Levi up from the state vet school this morning. He's doing well, and behaved nicely for them. Now I have a conehead to walk for the next two weeks. He gets his sutures out on the 16th. Yay!

Also, kudos to Phydeaux in Raleigh. That lovely pet shop had a halter to fit him! The vets don't want him leashed to a collar, because pressure on the neck increases pressure around the eyes. So I needed a halter fast. They tried on several before finding one that worked. And it was less than $20 for a 44 inch halter! I was also going to buy a small bag of dog food since he hadn't eaten, but when they found out why I was going to buy it, they gave me samples of dog food to give him until we could get home. I highly recommend that store!

Also, kudos to Phydeaux in Raleigh. That lovely pet shop had a halter to fit him! The vets don't want him leashed to a collar, because pressure on the neck increases pressure around the eyes. So I needed a halter fast. They tried on several before finding one that worked. And it was less than $20 for a 44 inch halter! I was also going to buy a small bag of dog food since he hadn't eaten, but when they found out why I was going to buy it, they gave me samples of dog food to give him until we could get home. I highly recommend that store!

up on Hay St. in Fayetteville is the "Woof Gang" pet treat bakery and grooming store.......
another great name for a pet store. I always thought if I ever opened a pet store/tack shop
I would name it "Reining, Cats and Dogs".

I'm sorry if this is the stupidest question ever.
I kept hearing this horrible noise from the brooder I thought 2 chicks were fighting so I ran in there and everyone was fine. I hear it again a few minutes later and the same thing. So I decide to stand there for a few minutes and one of the Orpingtons that I hatched last week stands up and makes this really loud noise like he's trying to crow.
It almost sounds like a crying noise not an actual rooster, but he gets the stance and everything.
I've only ever heard chicks peep or squeal never a sound like this.
Even my broilers are at least a month old before they will crow...

I had a Dutch start "squeaking with intent" at 4 days old. He stopped after 3-4 tries and didn't do it again till 2 months old. I have had bantam cochins start at 3 weeks old.

I'm sorry if this is the stupidest question ever.

I have salmon faverolles and they will make sounds sometimes that I imagine would be more fitting on a pterodactyl. They don't ever cluck, or bock...or make any normal chicken sounds. Also the rooster I've never heard crow. He's very submissive to the other roosters though, so I'm assuming that is why. But he's over a year old. Anyway they surely make some strange noises.
