Lovely day out there! It's chick day! I removed quite a few from the incubator this morning. Thought I'd share. Most of the Wellies are claimed, but there should be a few left if anyone wants any. NONE of the English Orps are for sale, as I'm hopeful that Elliot got friendly with the girls before he got hawked. I think the one is black, and if so it must be Elliot's kid. Fletcher is splash, so can't produce black. Cross your crossables!

You know it's dry out when the "I have to cut you down, than burn you in gasoline, and then dig up the sprigs as they regrow for 2 years to get rid of" native bushes are starting to wilt from lack of water.

Well my house was just surrounded by fire trucks! A fire started somehow on that back side of my land while I was in the house and had no idea that it happened of that trucks were there until my daughter looked out the window and told me... They stopped it inches from my coops and when I went out to talk to them the martial basicly said I startted it *** I said I was in the house with my kids and had no idea about it to which he replied we will find out and WHEN we do ur going to court! Really? Why in my right mind would I leave my two toddlers in the house to go out in hot dry windy weather to start a fire in tall dry grass next to my coops and burn a pile of lumber I was saving? ( What can they do really if they want to accuse me? Please help)

Probably a cigarette thrown out. Wouldn't take much at all to start a flame with how dry this weather has been. Hopefully it goes okay for you.

I finally received some much needed rain! So happy to have it, I sat on the screened porch with some coffee and just enjoyed it.
The dogwoods were wilting so badly, I was really worried I would lose some. And they are all mature, wild dogwoods! I've noticed the mimosa trees along the roads have been drying up and getting brown leaves with the mini-drought. Hopefully this rain will really soak in and not just run off.
