Ok I just have to vent. I had 2 beautiful silkies go broody and were 5 days away from hatching both broods. Last night something got both girls and now I have 12 eggs due and no bator. I fear they are already dead. Cruel world.
so so so sorry........if they aren't stone cold and even if they are you could try
using a heating pad with some towels. Wrap the eggs in a dry towel, wrap all
that in a damp towel and place on the heating pad and set it all in an open box
........can't hurt to try.
Good luck

Or under a heat lamp, but you'll need a thermometer so you don't cook them.

Matt......you are a wealth of good info and have some lovely
birds. Are you going to any of the shows this fall/winter?

I will be at Morganton(Oct 25), Winston-Salem(Nov 29), and Knoxville(Dec 6-7). Knoxville is the 2014 APA national. I will not be showing.

Rabbit question-- One of my rabbit seems to have an eye infection. No other symptoms or cold, just one eye is runny. The vet is closed so I can't get through to make an appointment. Other than washing it out anyone have any remedies, I've never had this before.

Thanks!!!

Are there any other equestrians out there? I'm just curious, because we are trying to sell a horse. :) Just wondering if there would be any chicken/horse lovers here? I would much rather have him go to one of you guys than some stranger on Craigslist. His name is Cassidy and he is really sweet and is a lovely trail horse. He just doesn't fit in quite right with our business.
If you're on FB, there is an everything horse NC you might think about. PLEASE don't list him on Craig's list- kill buyers pick up cheap horses and send them to slaughter. :(

@TiaRC I am so sorry about your hens!!

Thanks for the heads up! I've always been nervous about selling animals on Craigslist, because you never know who you are selling to or buying from. I'm going to do everything I can to make sure he goes to someone who will love him, take care of him, and give him the attention he deserves. I'm not on Facebook right now, but I'm really considering getting an account, especially if I could use it to help with the chickens and the business.

Ok so after a long day of work and many questions to the doc there are some answers, we use cattle normectin at work not any poor on it is oral/inject only and our specialist who does exotic (birds, guinnie pigs, etc...) said you should use .02 cc/mg for one lb of chicken this is a 1% solution but she has only used the normectin as a topical (put it on the skin) in small birds like finches and such and would not recamend it for large birds simply because she doesn't know how well it would actually work even for lice/mites she said a little 7 5% dust under the wings and around the vent should help with those hope this help every one but if you feel what you are doing is working keep at it

Slaughter-bound horses just gut me. I found my man 3 hours before he was going on the meat truck. He wss already dualy hip stapled. We ended up driving up to Pa to get him a week after QT. Not a single moment of regret.

But ya. They scope out cheap/free horses online and then usually resell to kill buyers. Bad stuff, that.
