Dutchbunny hasn't been on all week..:(

I was just the victim of chicken math...Yesterday the hawk took one, and today DoubleATraining was kind enough to take two roosters, and I was all set to go get two cochin hens. And I did. Two buff cochins, and a really gold cochin, and a black frizzle, and a white frizzle. And then, DH says that one is good looking...So I also got a LF gold laced Wyandotte...So, six...that is close to two, right?

Very close!

I'm concerned about Dutchbunny. She's very young to be having a stroke, and has two small children at home. I'd like to see her check in here. I know I had her number at one time, as she's been out to my place...I just don't know where it is. I've switched phones since then.

Spent this morning sending the last dozen Cornish X to freezer camp. After we get cleaned up and hubby gets back from a run to the dump, we'll hop on one of his Harleys and zip over to Wilmington for the gun show. I always keep my eye out for powder horns. Powder horns I can afford. I want to hang a bunch of them on a small section of wall. I don't want to pay a couple hundred apiece for them, but when I find one for $20-$30 bucks I grab it.

I haven't been around hunting guns or ammo since I was 5. But I remember those powder horns, cause they looked so cool. My uncle used to make them and i used to watch him make some but i never learned.

I posted some roos on craigslist a while ago, and a few days ago I got a text from someone. They were asking if i still had the "game chickens". No where in my ad did I say "game chicken" i clearly said roosters. So I replied and told they were all roosters and gave him a price, but he kept talking about "game chicken and rooster" and his grammar was all over the place so I just ignored all his other messages and left it at that.

I'm guessing he wanted to take them to an auction or something, it just seemed shady. plus I don't think I want to sell to inexperienced chicken keepers.

oh wow i had no idea that some breeds eggs are so high lol. darn lol i should start selling hatching eggs. thanks for the insight!
Prices should reflect the quality of the parents, though. There are some out there that have a waiting list at a couple hundred a dozen. There are others you'd make more money on selling them for eating eggs. Know what you are offering, and make sure the buyers know, too. Eggs from hatchery birds are rarely in demand. People who buy most eggs are looking for something a bit better. I sell hatching e3ggs for some of my breeds. I have very good English BBS Orps. I have reasonably good Wellies. I have hatchery quality Buff Orps. While I sell eggs for all of them, the prices vary dramatically. Very dramatically! Just remember to be up front about what you are offering.
