Good morning folks

So sorry to hear of the incubator troubles some are having.
I know how disappointing it can be to have a bad hatch.

What a pretty sight parts of Fayetteville has become with the
dogwoods, azaleas and wisteria all in bloom. I wish those plants
could stay in bloom longer than they do. I need to move some
iris to a sunny spot and find new homes for some lantana........
anyone want some?

hope everyone has a good day

Hi all! I'm new to the page and the chicken life
wink.png
We live in Western NC and we bought 4 Black Copper Maran chicks this past Saturday to start out our little flock. So far they are doing very well in their brooder and we are loving them! We've already had to start weaning their heat since they've acted a little toasty but the weather has been so warm, we aren't surprised!

I put in another thermometer I know to be accurate and it was 104!
So I lost a good month's worth of eggs. I know my husband was trying to be nice getting me a "better" one but I'm going back to the old.
I washed it when it came out the box, but I've never had a hatch from it.

The dogwoods are so pretty, though all of my blossoms came off in the rain. It is sad they only last a couple weeks. My kids are getting all excited for the dogwood festival next weekend.

Looks like it's going to be dry this morning, I need to get the last of my seedlings in the ground. I feel like I am so behind on the garden this year with the late frost.

Hope y'all have a great day!

Where did you get the bcm chicks? I am looking for them amd some speckled sussex

We got our bcm chicks from a man named Eddy in Canton, NC. You can typically find him on craigslist. He has tons of chickens and multiple breeds. He's very knowledgeable and I know his bcm chicks are from 2 very good bloodlines. I can't remember the names, one was Wade Jean I believe.

Not sure if you found your blueberries or not (since that post was 3 years ago) but my parents own The Plant Stand in Newport, NC and have blueberry bushes for sale. They were formerly located at the Friend Market but have since moved to Garner's Farms on Hwy 70 near the Flea Mall.

Oooh Hollow I would love to get some Easter Egger pullets from you!!!
2 out of 3 of the EE "pullets" I got from TSC (split an order of 6 with a friend) are roosters.

Soooo I've pretty much thought this Olive Egger was a male from the getgo, but held out hope because I really liked the coloring. No saddle or hackle feathers coming in yet, but that is a very big comb for 10 maybe 11 weeks old. Time for me to give up hope on holding out for a girl? He's pretty lanky, but very docile. Have to decide if it's going to the meat pen.
