That is so very sweet! My 1 month old broody raised chicks still haven't figured out how to go up into the coop, 2 feet off the ground. They are still sleeping with their moms in the run.

Hello everyone! I am fairly new the NC board and don't post often. I am happy to say that one or 2 of my girls started laying about a week and a half ago.
Slightly off topic, but my husband and I have decided to expand our mini farm and get a couple of goats. I'm thinking either Nigerian dwarfs of Pygmy goats. Does anyone know where is a good place for me to find a breeder? I have looked on Craigslist and haven't had much luck. I did find a breeder in Newport, but they won't be expecting any kids until November and we were hoping for something a little soon then that. We are located in eastern NC near New Bern.
I have Wazine on order but I'm not sure how the ivermectin on the skin thing works: where do you put it? how much? should I do it again after two weeks to be sure its good? can I put it on broody hens? how often should this be done?. this is really my first experience with parasites on my birds and i want to knock it out quick.
I only have 7 girls but I'm sure they all need to be wormed just in case but I'm not sure all of them have lice I know my Leghorns do but I haven't gotten to look at my other girls and with two broodys and chicks on the way I want to get this done as soon as posable I got seven dust today and I am going to dust my broodys with it sense they don't move when I'm near and will let me touch them and I will do my other girls tonight I plan on completely cleaning out my coop and scrubbing it with dog flea shampoo to kill anything in the coop then I will dust with DE or more seven dust with the Wazine hear soon do you think that will be enough to kill the parasites.
Wazine is only for round worms. It also has a wk waiting period before you can eat eggs. Ivemectin is for worms and parasites. I use it devided around the butt and under the wings. Some people use it internally on chickens but it will render the chickens un eatable. Mostly that is used that way for show birds. By the way ivermectin in a diferent way is used in humans. You can pick up the chckens at night from the roost and put the drops on them. I use the pour on form of that, its used on sheep and cattle.. I put 3 drops around the butt and one under each wing. Be sure it lands on skin not feathers. I use sevin under my wood chips in the coop. Good luck. Oh, I do this about once or twice a yr.I only have 7 girls but I'm sure they all need to be wormed just in case but I'm not sure all of them have lice I know my Leghorns do but I haven't gotten to look at my other girls and with two broodys and chicks on the way I want to get this done as soon as posable I got seven dust today and I am going to dust my broodys with it sense they don't move when I'm near and will let me touch them and I will do my other girls tonight I plan on completely cleaning out my coop and scrubbing it with dog flea shampoo to kill anything in the coop then I will dust with DE or more seven dust with the Wazine hear soon do you think that will be enough to kill the parasites.
