I was talking to a guy from Mississippi who does a homestead channel on YouTube (Deep South Homestead) and he told me we were fortunate to have choices of places to get feed in NC. I would hate to live somewhere that only had TSC. TSC feed is either very expensive or very poor quality (and still not that affordable). he didn't tell me what all his options were but in the conversation he found out about mine and let me know i was fortunate.

Yes, we are lucky that way. But some feed stores have come and gone over the years, too.

thats why I promote local feed mills that I like and have great prices, I want them to stay in business so I can get such a great deal on quality feed. I also want to hear where others get their feed from if its not a big box store. So others can find multiple options and keep these other options in business.

Have you checked Aberdeen feed? Other than them, Carthage farm & Feed (may b different name - Sothern States dealer) & Caralina Town & Country in Sanford - about 36 minutes up US1 from TSC in Vass.

I don't know about meat birds specifically, but I like Aberdeen Feed and haven't been impressed by Carthage Farm Supply.

I have a pair of seramas around 13 weeks old I need to part with! I'm located near Pinehurst, NC i'm looking to sell for $30. I have a 4 week old serama cockerel that is for $10. Or they can go together for $35 but need to be separated for a few more weeks.

As an insight, I have purchased SS horse feed and other products from Carthage Farm Supply. I know they have chicken feeds but don't know which ones. I have stopped in there to get other products when taking our dogs/cats to Carthage Animal Hospital. When the girls' were really little and we'd moved from Parkton to Lillington - Carthage was the only SS dealer at the time (2004) that we could find that carried the same feed that I'd purchased in Saint Pauls in bulk. CTC is now also a Southern States feed supplier, but they don't carry all the SS brands either...

I generally go to CTC, in Sanford, because it's easy, the people are great and I get the most "bang for my buck". I purchase horse feed, alfalfa pellets or cubes (not getting those at all right now), chicken and chick feed, rabbet feed, cat food (why is it food for one and feed for the other species?). Sometimes chicks & ducks, sometimes other products - buckets, tubs, dog/cat collars as they wear out, reptile lights for daughter's bearded dragon & chick lights, meds as needed - when I don't order them directly from a Vet Catalog, etc.

While in Sanford, I can make a bank run to a bank I can't easily access in other areas (PNC) and usually that is a pick up to go food dinner night for 4 adults and 2 children and sometimes more (before C19 - when the family did LARGE gatherings of adults and kids and spent hours playing D&D).

I generally get all fencing and large water tubs at TSC - much less expensive and buy in bulk - except HC - which I get thru my hubbies link to Amazon Prime.

...... deep breath, look away..... repeat in tone......I do not need new birds of a new breed, no new birds, I'm leaving for MT in 2 weeks for at least a month and could be longer, I don't need new birds, why would I want to learn about a completely new breed... ????!!!!

OMG, I love blue birds and they are so sweet looking! Well I may have to look up up next spring AFTER we then move our daughter, SIL and 2 grands up to MT....

Edit to add - our oldest daughter will be making the trek in 2021 in reverse that we made in 1997. Larry and I brought our 3 daughters (7, 5 & 4); 2 pony sized horses, 1 yearling horse, & 3 shetland ponies; 1 dog down here. If they choose to take livestock and equipment - they will be taking the two girls (9 & 8 next spring), 1-2 dogs, a bearded dragon, 2-3 cats, a single finch (I think that's what she is), possibly 2 ponies and a flock (possibly 2) of chickens with 1-2 roosters. I may share more about this in the future...
