Thanks, Coyote. That is a very generous offer. I love Freecycling here in Durham too. Not sure I can convince my darling husband (he of the previously mentioned *blank stare* regarding everything chicken) to not only drive to Stanley (the town, not the county) but to disassemble a fence. So...if you get another taker, then go for it. Once I get his head wrapped around my idea, then I will check with you to see if still available.

@Mr. Price--Not sure about the whole incubation thing but I would love to consider buying a broody hen with a couple of fertile eggs and some extra little day olds to slip under her one night.

I am trying to compile a list of NC breeders in one easy place. If you would like your information to be added, please PM me with the info below. Once I get the site going, I will post a message with the link. :)

Just e-mail me with the info that you would like to have shown. Examples, name, e-mail address, phone number, address and/or city, the breed of birds that you raise and sell.

I will not just add links out of the blue so unless you contact me with the info and say that you want to be on there, you will not be added.

(Hope this is okay. Saw something elsewhere and thought it might be a great thing!)

Asher, I think it's a wonderful idea!!! I've only been breeding Silkies a little over a year, and I live in the boonies

My only option for adding to my flock is by buying eggs through the mail; or once in a great while picking up new bloodlines at a show. Theres just no way for me to know what breeders are nearby.

My email will be on its way

Hi everyone.

I'm near Winston-Salem. No chickens yet, but planning a coop, thanks to all the great suggestions on this site.

For those who breed black Orpingtons, please contact me if you ever get the spontaneous purple coloration that is typically culled. I just love it and want to have a flock of purple, or mostly purple, Orps in my backyard.

Anywhere in NC is fine for pickup, as are surrounding states, so tell your friends. lol

As for the Duke and Carolina fans, I'd still buy birds from you.

You're hubby sounds like a smart man! I went to Boston University but I bleed Carolina Blue!

If God isn't a Tar Heel, then why is the sky Carolina Blue?

Ok - I'm done now!!

PURPLE!! A purple chicken? That is cool. I would love to have one if I ever have a spot open in my coop! Do you have any now? Could you post a pick so I can see?

Hi all, I'm from around Burke County. Anyone around here have any silkie chicken for sale or trade for some guinea chicks.
