Afternoon all, Are you telling me you were up here in Burnsville BC and you didn't tell me you were coming? I don't know if I've ever seen Partridge before, what do they look like? and you have baby chicks? aww, I have a little hen that wants to sit real bad she was on 3 yesterday and not the first time either, but it's too cold for her to hatch out don't you think? Well talk to ya'll later this afternoon going to go visit with my children for a while.

Naw~~~I wasn't in Burnsville...we meet at the restaurant across the street from the Asheville airport. He has quite a few of my birds....he's a wonderful young man who provides excellent homes to his Silkies.

I'll try to take some pics of the Partridge (I need to anyway) and post them; it's my favorite color.

I have a hen sitting on 6 eggs, in the heated barn, that was due to hatch yesterday....so far--nothing. I haven't tried letting a broody do the job in the winter before. Maybe the eggs just get toooo cold when she gets off for a couple of minutes everyday. I don't think I'll be trying that again.

I was wondering the same thing just too cold, and I don't heat unless it gets into the low teens. I saw where people in Alaska have Silkies and no heat I didn't know they were that tough. I can give the ones I get from you heat if I need to though. I didn't know there were that many people out here in Yancey Co. that have chickens, I am sure theres chicken people around just don't know them other than the older fellow who works at our feed store he has bantams just forget what kind. He's the one who told me to put bleach into their water to worm them. These old timers:

Silkies look warmer to me! Did alot of research on feeder insects. So I guess I will be ordering mealworms, superworms, and roaches too! Got a friend with a sugar glider, who offered to buy also! We shall see how this all goes, wife says it has to stay in basement! Maybe I'll get to build a building/barn. If I had a million dollars...... I hope you all have a wonderful week to come.

bleach?? in their water to worm them

sounds like an old time cure.....my daddy said when he was a child, if you got a cough, grandma would give you a teaspoon of kerosene mixed with sugar

daddy's still kickin' though

I have heard of that too the kerosene, out here if you have a sore throat or cough it's white lightening and honey. I've never tried it but it would probably cure ya or kill ya.
