North Carolina

Yeah, I understand quarantine. My ducks didn't like it, but I had to be sure, especially with my young runner that would be introduced with them. Not to mention they needed time by themselves to recover from where they had been living. General health, they were fine. But who ever had them before had clipped the drakes wings. I have NEVER seen a wing hacked as short as his were.

The bar on is wing couldn't be seen b/c they had clipped that far back. He is beautiful now.

Today has just been a great day!

First we delivered two of my Serama's to their new dad, I think they will be very happy.
Then we went and picked up the local cabinet incubator, great shape. Will share pictures soon.

Came home and finished the quad bachelor pen and got chickens settled in. Will share pictures of that too, it's awesome!
Then one of my black bantam orpingtom pullets laid her first egg!!!

Hey tbird, if you want a nice young EE cockerel, let me know, I am wanting to re-home mine. he is 7 months old (hatched May 22)
We are planning on getting more Delawares, and I want to raise them.
Spazz is a good little cockerel. he is a bit protective of the girls, but has never tried to peck anyone. he will step up and get between strangers and the ladies (not me though) you can see his pic on my byc page.
if you want him, I can meet you at the auction place, or somewhere nearby.

I wish I could, but I've got two roosters with my flock right now. The head rooster is an EE as well and let's just say he is not nice to my other roo! I guess he doesn't want to share the 16 hens

Adding another might be asking for trouble. I had 6 roos with all the ladies before without troubles, I know I can have that again..

I don't think I could do another Roo until I have more ladies. I have australorps in the bator, but that will be awhile. Good luck rehoming him!

Good Morning & Happy New Year to you Trish, and all my neighbors...

Woke up to NO internet.....not the best way to start the new year....just hope it's not an indicator of things to come

Goodmorning and Happy New Year!!!

The sun is starting to peak out, looks to be a fine day. Should be in the high 60s.
I am in-patiently waiting for my New Years chicks to hatch. Had 1 yesterday morning an 1 sometime last night after midnight. Now nothing.

I also heard there is a auction in Kenly. Do not know the exacts. I do know you need to get to the auctions early enough to view the birds, otherwise they are in a box and you may not get to see what your buying. Know someone that thought they were buying cochins and got only 1 cochin & 2 EE were in the box. His fault, didn't get there early enough. I've never been, but do plan on going to check it out. I always have birds I need to sell.

Off to check the bator & then out to try and clean up some around the mud.

Enjoy your day!!!!

Good Morning Neighbors !!

Matt A~~I knew you'd come through...you always do.....thanks so much

HenThymes~~so what's going in the new incubator???

My little "house" cockerel, the one that was sick, crowed for the first time this morning
ep.gif
pitiful sounding...lol....but he tried. He's really well enough to go back to the barn...but I'm not ready to let him
hide.gif

A black pullet I planned on showing laid her first egg....it's unfertile of course, because I don't want the roo messing up her crest. Think I'll wait til after the Morganton show to breed her.....it's that or do AI, which I really don't like to do.
Rained lightly all day yesterday....no rain this morning, so I hope to get OUTSIDE to do some work today.

You'll have a good one
