I don't know how far down the ice goes. The pond is only 2'deep and the whole top of the pond is solid ice. I am so sad. We just bought this pump in the spring, it was working fine one day and the next morning it wasn't . Doesn't there have to be a way for the gasses to escape and theres not.

Those to Seramas are adorable how are they doing or should I say what are they doing screaming for each other?

There does need to be an opening somewhere...but, stranger things have happened. I'd try breaking a hole in and seeing if there is any life. You really can get a huge surprise with goldfish. That being said, if they all ARE dead, let me know, I've got some really nice koi on sale right now. As for the pump, what kind is it? Sometimes they have warranties. Let me know what brand, and if i can't find you a free replacement I can at least offer you a new one at cost.

Thanks EM I tried to break the ice with a hammer but it's so solid it won't budge. If their dead then I will give up trying to have fish and probably give the pond to my ducks. It's a little giant pump, but it's also the 3rd one I have had to buy in the 7 years that I've had the pond. That gets pretty expensive.

See, pumps shouldn't go out that much. I'm assuming it's a pond pump? Do you know about how many GPH it pumps? Model number? Anything I can distinguish it from the others?

well if I could get the pump out of the pond I could probably tell ya, I know I kept the box it came in but can't remember where it is at the moment. We told the person the size of our pond and he assured us it would work fine and it did till a couple of weeks ago. I am so happy they got pips, won't be long now till we see baby pictures...

Cute little babies. I love looking at the pics. I hope to have some of my own sooner or later. =/

Yeah, whenever you find the box or get the pump out just PM me. also let me know the size of your pond, etc. You'd be surprised how many people will sell you something just to sell you something...whether you need it or not.
