Gavin - so sorry to hear about the little one and sorry for your loss
The rest are absolutely adorable!! I especially like the "look" on the BR...so cute!
Beth - sadly I am allergic to cow's and goat's milk, not sure about DD yet (stupid OB told me to drink milk for the baby - an entire pregnancy covered in HIVES...UNCOOL!!) She is allergic to cow's milk, so we're waiting until she's either 18mo or 2 before trying goat's milk - just to be safe!! Still waiting for more pictures!! I NEED to feed my addiction!!
HT - what a busy and productive day!
Looking forward to lots and lots of pictures!!
Vfem - did you end up having eggs for dinner? If not apparently I laid one that you might be able to talk ML out of!!
ML - have a great night and give Ruth Ann a special hug from ... Ruthann!!
You're welcome to the veggies in our garden ANY time (well...once they start growing...I have a bunch of lettuce & peas so far...I'm NOT a fan of peas
well perhaps fresh will win me over.)
Em - have you tried the black algae treatment yet? Just curious if it worked for you!!
A special
to Hoopie82 and
from Johnston County NC - so far I think I am the furthest BYC'er that's east - at least that I know of!! I hope you enjoy your visit, for pretty soon you will be addicted like the rest of us and then BHep will have another person to enable!!

I just added the algae in my "Experiment tank". It hasn't really *took off* yet. But, with a metal halide light on 24/7 on it, shouldn't take it too long.
Quick question for y'all seasoned BYC'ers...what sort of books regarding chickens, health, care/maintenance, etc...should be in my library? I thought I should start stocking up - better to have it now than later. I saw a few like "The Chicken Encyclopedia" or "The Chicken Health Handbook" ... even one that said "Holy [I won't say/type this word, so insert poop instead], how to manage manure"...so I just thought since we know only what we've learned from everyone on here...a few good reference manuals would be a plus, especially since we don't know what mites look like or signs/symptoms of something being wrong!! So...what do you think? What are your go-to manuals?
No eggs for dinner tonight... went with turkey burgers (the 4 year old boss insisted she didn't want eggs)... but thanks to a lovely someone I have several eggs under a broody, and my husband is VERY pleased that it was more then just silkies this time!!!! So no eating them, just setting them to hatch tonight.
I will probably hard boil some japanese bantam eggs in the morning for snacking this week. YUM!
Wow, alot has happened in a day on here. I found a cute little hen at the buncombe animal shelter but don't have away to bring it home
We are hopefully ordering chicks soon
I cant stay on this website or pretty soon we are going to be over run with chickens
Are 2 little chicks passed in the middle of the night, we talk with tractor supply and they have had alot of people who called about chicks that have died from them.
