Matt - you must truly love your chickens to RAISE WORMS for them!!! That is impressive!

So now for my pity party - I candled all 17 of my Cochin eggs last night and there seem to be only 2 developing!!!!! There are 2 that I'm holding out a little hope for, but my hopes are not very high. I only cracked open 3 - one that I was absolutely sure was clear and 2 that had blood rings. And yep, they were duds. But I didn't have the heart to throw out any others. I figure I'm a newbie, so maybe just maybe there's still hope. I am super bummed!

Out of my other 20 from a different seller there were only 3 duds. And they are all looking great! I'm glad they came first so I know that it's not the incubator or something I'm doing wrong at least. I think my plan is to wait until day 10 to make sure about the rest and then I'll contact the seller. I was so excited about my beautiful Cochin babies! Booooooo. OK, enough whining!

NH, hope DD is doing well today. My toddler woke up w/ a fever this morning so it's books, books, more books, and lots of Thomas the Tank Engine at my house. Poor pitiful little thing has hardly gotten off the couch. Just a cold, but if any little bug comes near the poor little guy he gets a high fever.

Awww... I hate it when they're sick! My DD I thought was sick 2 weeks ago, turns out she has nasty allergies and we have some sneezing, icthy eye, running nose nastiness for a few hours each day before the clariton kicks in. My only dislike about spring. Those tree pollen days are the WORST!

Yep, he's got the nasty allergies, too. Apparently all the gunk from the allergies makes them more susceptible to colds and stuff.

Booooo. Fingers crossed to our little ones growing out of the allergies!

SCM......... I would contact the seller, don't expect anything but at least let them know that none were fertile. You never know, maybe they will reship for cost of shipping. Cochins have alot of fluff on their butts, some people trim both rooster & hens hineys for better fertiliy. That stinks anyway.........

There are a lot of BYCers with LF Cochin, I would try there first, I have been hearing more & more bad stories about ebay. That is sad because I know there are alot of great seller on Ebay.

I BOUGHT the duclings from Metzers.....they are all female ( I hope) . I can sure hatch roosters & drake.

I need females... my drakes are insane with hormones. And that is putting it nicely.
