I use DE in the coops for mite control and I put some in there food each month for deworming. Our chicks also like it to dust bath in the brooder.

Trouble is we got new birds and we have mites now. We're dust bathing everyone this week and changing bedding in the coop the second time this month. Annoyed to say the least.

congrats on the babies scm !!! and gavin your chicks are all grown up [almost] gosh they grow so fast. It's so warm here the last 2 days, snakes are what I worry about now that chicks are hatching. Ruthann, my little hen is a Cochin frizzle bantam, and she is momma to who knows, but I do know one has feathered legs. I have a cochin bantam sitting on a brahma egg now..

they don't care as long as they get to sit.

CONGRATULATIONS on your new baby. So...how does it feel to have given birth without having to go through all that hard work...oh wait... you were up all night checking temps & humidity & pips...ok, I guess it's just like the real thing. I think you need to sit down and prop your feet up for a moment then!

I anxiously await more!!

Gavin, they are SOOOO adorable!!

ML - I had a feeling she was a cochin....I'm addicted to them, but I was thrown off by the "frizzle" (

I'm trying to give myself an excuse!!)

My little one is fighting the teething something fierce. Wasn't able to get into the garden to plant anything today because the DD is suffering from dis-attachment syndrome. I can't set her down without a meltdown (HIGHLY unusual for her...she doesn't care to be held...there's too much to explore). I'm trying not to panic, but I see her pulling on her ear & sleeping a lot. I'm hoping it's the teething pain radiating and not a dreaded ear ache!! She goes next week to the doctor's so we'll see.

hoping it's not any infection...she's schedule to get her ears pierced!!

I'm terrible I know....but at least she won't know it hurts!! They numb the ear and do both at the same time!! Who knows...I might lose my nerve.

Once the DH gets home, it's BUILD time. My shoes are on, supper can be ready in a matter of minutes (the time it takes for him to drive home)...I'm READY to go!!

Aww NH I hope the supervisor gets well real quick and it's only those dreaded teeth, can you still buy orgel or how ever you spell it. Hows that chick looking now scm? looking forward to seeing more pictures. I have 6 broodies and each have 3 eggs. I have to be careful or I'll have to rent a building to put everyone in, lol will have to place most of these but will be able to get my baby chick fix before hand.. ya'll have a good one.

Congrats on your pips. hope you have chicks soon, they are so adorable flopping around and finding their legs and climbing all over the the other eggs. I have some eggs going into lock down tomorrow, Last ones before the big Easter hatch.

Well off to the once a year horse show, I need to help my trainer finish up the clipping and bathing on my stallion and her mare.
