I have solid black marans, lavender bantam cochins, blue bantam orps and LF brown orp eggs all arriving this week.

PLUS...
bantam marans, olive eggers, wheaten penedesenca, exhibition blue orps, bantam orps and a couple others hatching this friday.

Don't look at me...... I have the SAME PROBLEM...

I just put 34 eggs into lockdown at 5:30pm. 4 cinnamon red bantam cochin (project), 1 BBS LF Cochin, 8 Seramas, 7 BW Ameracanas & 14 mixes. All stuffed in a Brinsea ECO 20.


In the incubator...BLRW, OE, Barred OE, Moltted Java, D'Uccles, BBS LF Cochin, more mixes, some mystery chicken & duck eggs ( picked up at the auction) , Magpie ducks, call ducks and Sebestapol geese. I think thats it.... and tell me why I EVEN looked at the BYC auctions???? But I did not buy anything today......

Seriously, I am waiting for my next paycheck. Thats the only thing that stopped me from biding on some bantam cochins today. I figure gas, food and such have to come first.

I haven't checked the eggs in the bator that are due Thursday. I do have to finish getting ready for chicks and the broodies that are going to raise them. I am heading down to Shook Poultry Thursday morning to pick up 59+ chicks. The order is for 30 Comets, 25 Black Sexlinks, and 2 roos of each for meat birds. ALL are already sold except for the 5 or so that I am keeping and giving to Maggie, Blue Ameraucana, to raise. This will be the first time she has raised babies. She stayed broody all last summer, but I didn't have room for another broody. As grouchy as she is I am hoping she will be a good mother.

This will be the 4th time I have bought chicks from Shook. His chicks have always been so healthy and vigorous.

With the cooler weather the storm line is bringing in I will be able to get some real work done the next couple days. Just been too HOT for me this past weekend.

I love the idea of them coming by bus...but I think they will be coming by truck. They will be 7 weeks old!!

My first set of chickens, EVER!!!!!!! I will always keep a spot open for Ruthann if you get tired of her...

I haven't even had a chance to finish planting my corn & beans or any of my squash!! BAH!!

Lol...Some of you definitely need HA...if I get that far...leave a spot open for me...and someone, clear a spot on your couch for me!!

the DH will definitely kick me out!!

Coop Update: I am HAPPY to report that we were able to seal the "seams" of the coop tonight...makes me extremely happy since the storms are on their way (so I've been told). I am definitely looking forward to cooler weather!! I also managed to get a second & third coat of paint on the barn in some areas. DH wasn't able to get off early enough to put any more walls up, but that's ok. He's working so hard at trying to get things done before Friday!!

All this so I can have some chickens!!

I do have a photo for you all. While I was outside painting I saw this HUGE "thingie" trying to crawl up my pants and then when knocked down, over my shoe!!

I figured it would be an excellent treat for one of the chickens...PLEASE tell me they eat something like that (not my shoe of course...but the bug)!!

Also...do bumblebees eat wood?? Lol...I saw one that looked like it was trying to bore a hole into one of the rafters!!

Who knows what it was doing?!?
