I use the Purina Layena, I have tried Dumor (Tractor Supply) and Nutrena laying feed, Country Acres laying feed (Purina) and Mule city mash-- I didn't realize that it was powdery although I asked--. My girls seem to like the Purina layena the best and I get more eggs from them on it. Of, course everyone has a favorite.
From everthing I have read, the type is improtant, you need to use the type with the Mother in it. I add Apple cider Vingar 1 tbsp and Honey 1 tbsp per gal to my water for the newly hatched chicks. they graduate to regular water when they go outside. I do plan on starting the outside birds on just the apple cider opnce I get things finished outside and can my feed arean a little more organized.
