G & A : Congrats!! What a sweet picture!! Glad YOU are dealing with the snakes...we saw a baby snake that somehow was eaten by something partially. Really gross! lol.
ML - What a beautiful gal...what is she?
VFem - how did the bird situation end? Did your DH take them or call animal control?
People like that should NOT be allowed to have animals. I am so sorry you had to find out there are some cruel people out there.
Coop Update - Today was a slow build day because we not only had Cantata practice for our Easter Musical, but it's also my DH's birthday (1/4 of a century old...
) so I told him he wasn't allowed to spend his entire birthday building. We did manage to get the run largely finished - even tacked up a temporary door so the flock could come outside while we worked on the inner door. We are now working on the roof of the run and the other set of inner doors. After that...we just finish the inside and then we're done with the MAIN build!! (For now!!
) Jeremy Fisher & Jemima Puddleduck (my two BO) were outside without any trouble...the others, kept dashing outside and then RUNNING back inside. It was quite comical!! I was also amused by the "boys" establishing their pecking order. I am sad to say that Timmy Tiptoes (LO) is the bottom of the roo pecking order and Cotton-Tail has been trying to put Jeremy in his place...but no one messes with the BIG BUFF!
Haha...Why didn't you all tell me this was SO fun & entertaining?? A special thank you to the BBC for giving my husband the best birthday present known to him...a Dr. Who marathon AND a new episode!!
looks real nice Ruthann, and I think that was a thumbs up from the inspector too. The 2 hens I showed with chicks are game/bantam mixes. the one looks more game and the other looks more the mix of both. Everyone I hope you all have a Blessed Easter. And lets all remember that Jesus is the Reason for the Season. Have a good one.
We get a snake every once in awhile but they are rat snakes and they bother the pigeons, usually not the chickens. Copperheads are not a good thing, please be careful

I still think you should take them. He has no business having any kind of animal with that kind of attitude. Just sneak back and put them in your car. He doesn't deserve them.

Yeah he should have, but he said he was in no mood to argue... if those birds are still there later he's taking them! Animal control is no good, they have a '2 day' waiting list for 'emergencies' only. They told us if we took the birds, even on public property for their own good we could be arrested for stealing, so we walked away.
Ruth, she is too cute! Has she broken out the code book for inspection yet? LOL
OK.. Now I know that this is my last big hatch !!! 1st time hatching in the Dickey. I have been using the Brinsea as a hatcher. Yesterday all was well, 30 something/63 chicks out with no problems. I took the bottom incubating tray out so we can shine a flashlight through the tiny window. Today....not so good.
I see chicks stuck
So I make the decision to open the bator and rescue everyone. Start up the Brinsea, only take 1/2 hr to get up to temp. Pull the chicks, put them in a brooder. Pull the sticky eggs, hatch out 4, 1 was already dead.
Move all the rest of the eggs to the Brinsea. Hope & pray they make it, lots had pips and peeping...
I will now be up all night hovering over the hatcher.
BHep: Awwww, I hope that the rest hatch out well - it can be so frightening when you know that those babies are trying!
Sounds like Animal Control there is useless - what if one of those chickens goes through someones windshield? I hope those little babies make it along with Momma. That guy should get a ticket at least
!
That was such a cute picture of Momma and her two babies and MAN is she giving you "stink eye" in that photo!
We're hoping for near Lenoir or Hudson. Somewhere preferably in Catawba or Caldwell County - I know there are a couple other counties right there but my brain is on overload today between looking at info on homes for the area down there, waiting for the possible offer on our home, taking care of the animals and all the other fun things life has to offer!
Looking forward to chatting with everyone on the forum and getting to know you all here!
