I think the hatch is over.
8 bantams from what looked like 11 good eggs. 5 are definately tricolored, 2 look like Oreos(2 toned), and the third is odd. I will get pics later. BigSis is already settled in the broody house out in the yard. I just gave her a feeder and waterer and she is feeding the 4 that hatched first the other 4 are under their momma.
6 Standard Cochins. 3 Blacks and 3 Blues. The Blues are from Nicollete since she is my only splash. JJ(Roo) is Black. First thing this morning when I checked on Maggie a Blue one had rolled out from under her just after it hatched. She ignored it completely. I picked up the cold dead chick and set it on the house. The rest were huddled behind Maggie, so I pulled them since she is obviously NOT mother material. I placed the last unhatched egg under Daisy to see if she would be a mother. The 3 Blacks came back in the house and into the bator till I knew Daisy was good to go.
I was about to bury the dead one when I saw it's beak move slighty. I had to stare for a minute before the lifeless baby moved its beak again. I took it to the incubator. You ain't dead till you are Warm and Dead. An hour later it was holding its head up. Another hour and it was able to get upright and stretch out. By Noon it was fine.
The egg under Daisy hatched out Blue and she was clucking her head off. I put 2 blacks in about Noon and she took them. I took the last Black, Lucky Blue, and another Blue that hatched and gave them to her too. She pecked the crap out of me and then gently pushed the babies under her like a good mother. She will get moved this evening to the broody house where she can feed her new family.
I will post pictures once everything is settled down.
