Thanks I will take a look!! hey did you get some inspiring ideas for your next coop?

HA! I wish! I just desperately need to get this coop finished!!! I'm hoping it did get my hubby motivated a little. Although he gave me a terrible time because not a single coop we saw was done entirely in hardware cloth like ours. That was by far my biggest battle with him and the most expensive part of our coop so far, so he wasn't happy about that. But, oh well!!! My chickens will be safe!!! We did see some really neat ideas though. It was a lot of fun!

well don't clean out the brooder for a couple of days that might motivate him to finish

If anyone is interested these English splits are available. Going to be big kids.

HT Wish I was closer. I would take them in a minute.

My 8 babies are growing so fast. Out of the 5 lavenders, 1 is probably a roo.
The 3 splits- 1 is definately a large roo and the other 2 may be roos.
Thanks you for the opportunity to add lavenders to my flock.

How is your beekeeping progressing?

ML I like your new avatar.

Pips on 3/5 Welsumers (auction) hope they are really Welsumers and 1 Serama

Hope to find a bunch of chicks in the bator when I wake up.

Goodnight all......

Another surprise:

This morning I was planning to cut the bator off so that I could clean it later. There were still 6 unpipped eggs in there that I assumed were not going to hatch. I completely forgot to cut it off. About 5 pm we heard a peep. Could have sworn it was outside, but it wasn't. One last Standard Blue Cochin had decided to hatch. Today is day 23. I waited till after dark and took it to place under Daisy. It is a strong little thing. Kept trying to push its way out of my hand. Daisy now has 7 Cochins to raise. That is 7 chicks from 10 good eggs with the Standard Cochins and 8 chicks from 10 good eggs with the bantams. An overall hatchrate of 75% is not bad for me. I don't do anything special anymore when keeping eggs for myself. These were just stuck in a carton that was sitting on top of my clean laundry until I had enough to fill the bator.

I am going to candle the last 5 before I open and then dispose of them in a little while.
