I am working to get my Frizzle cochin program up and running. My pen with the smooth blue roo and black fizzle hens had started but the one hen laying went broody right away. My frizzle roo witht he smooth girls were getting to age to breed/ lay, but I made atrip to the acution with the roo as he was getting very aggressive and finally flew at me 3 times on Saturday. I won't have that and won't breed it. he was very rough on the girls too. i had one hen at the point of laying and she is now prolasped and not responsing to treatment

I think I will have to cull her

So I do have some potentail boys growing out to replace him. If you can wait a while is should have something. or maybe some eggs if the second frizzle hen starts laying instead of following the broody and chicks( BLRW) around.

One of my best friends was heartbroken this weekend. Her (approx. 20) chickens free range during the day, and for the 2nd time this year, the neighbor's dog has gotten out and (this time--don't remember how many last time) killed 6 of her chickens. She wants to "walk in love" with her neighbor, but yet needs to protect her property. Husband was out of work for about 1 1/2 years, just got a job, and these chickens were part of her groceries!!

Thanks for the link chedva, will have to look into eggies. and so sorry to hear about your friends chickens, It's really a bummer when it's your neighbors dog that does this. What does the neighbor have to say about it? will they replace them for her?

HT- where are you located at? I'm tempted to take a Juvi Roo if you're not too far away. Of course, I have some questions. What's LF? I don't plan to show, I just want good layers and table birds if I get too populated, so is it a problem to mix them with Buff Orps and Speckled Sussex hens? If you have 1 pullet avail that matches the roo, I may take her too. How much $ would you want for them?
